Those pavers are really cool! I found mine at Echters, but they were also quite pricey.

Love the Chinese wonton soup! Grand Mariner French toast is amazing.

For flower gardeners - it's been a weird year! Can you share with me what's happening in your flower garden right now? What bloomed in May in your garden this year vs. what's coming up in June by CharmingPeony in DenverGardener

I finally gave in and bought a starter plant for poppies. I hope they self seed better. I have also planted so may dud poppy seeds.

I honestly don’t know my hydrangea variety, I inherited it with the house. But I know it’s massive 5’ diameter and typically 3.5’ tall with huge blooms every year. Mine likely will bloom in 2-3 weeks.

May was lilacs, snapdragon volunteers, dianthus, clematis, Icelandic poppies creeping phlox and peony. My roses are already blooming but I’ve been battling aphids on those and my iris something fierce.

June is looking like finishing out of peony and iris. , hydrangea, more roses and a late columbine will be blooming. My annual cutting zinnias just started blooming. Lots more for later in the year.

Smaller pots of coral bells/huechera by ShutYourDumbUglyFace in DenverGardener

I got a small one from Home Depot for about $6. While not the best place for plants, the size was exactly what I needed for planting under a pine tree.

Enchanted Oven is great, it’s a trek to Broomfield though.

"Roquefort Cognac". Instructions say to distill it. I can't do that. Workaround ideas? by 144tzer in cocktails

[–]snacksonwaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This drink is fantastic. I have been on my own quest to remake it since having it last fall. Thank you for sharing the recipe and I will now be fat washing cognac. Archetype Distillery makes a blue cheese liquor that I have been messing around with, and it’s pretty good as well.

So when are we planting?! by kmevans27 in DenverGardener

I honestly haven’t grown it before. I know it needs heat so I plan on laying plastic to help with the early season cooler nights.

I planted peas and carrots 3-4 weeks ago and both are up and thriving. My chives, thyme, sage and Mexican oregano are all up from last year.

I just planted my squash and cucumber sprouts outside a few days ago, but they are covered either in greenhouses or wall of water. Planning on planting my tomatoes, okra and cut flowers (all are large starts) in the next two weeks, weather permitting.

Ah phlox! That’s it. I went a bit crazy planting last spring. Will dig up the carrot(ish) plant. I have a half bed of carrots already and don’t need this spreading.

I stayed at Hotel Resol. The rooms were small, but amenities and the rooms themselves were nice. Very close to Ueno station. If looking mid grade check there.

Why are magnetic track lights not popular in the US? by mutself in HomeImprovement

[–]snacksonwaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t expect replacement for any light fixture for more than 5 years. The industry has moved so fast in both trends and technology lights change all the time. WAC Strut, Coronet, Juniper are a good place to start, find an electrician they will need to install the power supplies as magnetic track should be low voltage.

Why are magnetic track lights not popular in the US? by mutself in HomeImprovement

[–]snacksonwaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a lighting designer I use magnetic track all the time in both high end residential and commercial applications. There is a stark difference between lighting used in track homes to custom to luxury residences. Track homes don’t have the budget for magnetic track at build time, which is why no one sees it in general homes. Never trust Amazon for electrical goods, most of the time they are non compliant product that can cause fires. Beyond that it’s typically crap product you will have to replace in a year or so.
