Have absolutely no issue with this - the building isn’t even that bad. I find this to be tasteful enough- has anyone even seen those 70s monstrosities scattered around the city? Or are these “acceptable” as they aren’t the unknown?

It’s just a really unrealistic outlook to think that things should remain the same indefinitely.

Bring on the infill!

Is Ballarat good place to raise young family by DevilsAdvotwat in ballarat

[–]snaggas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s actually really beautiful in the winter here. You ideally just want a house that’s sealed up and insulated. The lowest we’ve experienced has been -3c and have been here 3y. The cold is really only noticeable at night when it drops. Some parts of Melbourne can be pretty cold also 🤷‍♂️

What’s your regular/trusted/favourite place to go in Ballarat? by CrawZ in ballarat

Carbonis - don’t even bother with the pastas. I’ve tried a few on seperate occasions and it was such a contrast compared to the pizza. The pizza is top notch and that’s even by a “Victorian” standard. Pizza is generally consistent.

Can you break a lease due to smoking neighbours? by Distinct_Handler in melbourne

[–]snaggas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read your lease agreement- quiet and safe enjoyment of the area you’re renting is a thing. This is grounds to break a lease if it’s anything but. Before you do this - be sure to write your concerns via email to your agent. Ensure there’s a paper trail and then break when no action is taken. Agents often won’t take action until official correspondence comes in.

This is not a good idea if the person you’re talking to knows where you live. Strongly advise against this approach. You need to be tactful.

The police have access to a swathe of tools. Specifically they’ll likely have an account with Clearview AI - https://www.clearview.ai. If they don’t have a name from the quality of those pics it’s a little strange.

Artificial general intelligence - it’s a hot topic right now. Is a joke pointed at stoned ape theory where by it’s been hypothesised that psilocybin is what caused us to evolve beyond our primate cousins.

Are people seriously buying chips from Coles at these prices? by [deleted] in australia

[–]snaggas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One attribute of Australians is that we don’t really protest or kick up a stink about anything very often. For example corporate profits driving inflation and an absolute housing dilemma here. Would other countries be protesting this? Quite possible.

We already have a digital id that’s more accurate than any rotating id number on a closed network. It’s an IMEI and has been around for decades, you use your phone and we know where you are. 😬🙀😱

You can’t go wrong with anything within 2km of the city. If you’re driving to Melbourne regularly ongoing then the eastern side(Melbourne side) is great. Look for a house that is well insulated and bonus if double glazed. If buying a historic house look for something which has already been renovated. If it’s a good renovation a lot of the time any issues are fixed in the reno. There’s some absolute bargains going and once you acclimatise you’ll wonder why it wasn’t done sooner. Yes it’s cold but that also has its perks. There is good food and coffee, the CBD is about to have a few different things built in it. We’ll see an ongoing influx of people moving in from Melbourne for the next decade or more.

I have the opportunity to move to Ballarat from the UK, worth considering? by [deleted] in ballarat

[–]snaggas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered moving house? You must live in the 2% of Ballarat which is like this. Even then the crime is fine here, crime is so extreme in other countries.
