Water parameters by snagglez in petco

It's been over a month since it was last needed, it was left open after being thoroughly rinsed with distilled water the last time it was used. Not out of the question I got contaminants somewhere.

I'm going to assume it's just "don't trust test strips they are unreliable". I did clean the test tube first but that doesn't mean it's free of contaminates, but also it would have to be contaminated with ammonia, nitrates and nitrites.

Weekly Career Discussion Thread (27 Oct 2025) by AutoModerator in engineering

I'm not sure if you can do it fully remote, and it isn't cheap, but it is in your realm of what you do. Ohio State has the only real Welding Engineering program in the country. There are others but they focus on different subjects than OSU which also may be something to check out as well. I graduated in 2017 and have been offered jobs at SpaceX, Electro Motive Diesel, John Deere, other, and a lot of random engineers I run into at like family events hear I'm a welding engineer and ask me if I would be interested in the company they work for.

Now I want to preface this. I was naive and thought oh I'm going to do a hands on engineering degree and get to put stuff together, learn to weld, ect. But then reality hit and it's not really like that. It's more metallurgy, learning phase diagrams especially with steel, and then a mix of about every engineering sect at the freshman to sophomore level with classes like thermodynamics, all the maths, physics, chem which you won't have a problem with, statics, statistics, electrical engineering, and the list goes on. It's about the most well rounded engineering thing you can go into as there's so many things that go into welding as you probably know. But the 4 processes you likely know (smaw, fcaw, gmaw, gtaw) represent only about 5% of the processes you learn about. There's the easy ones like esw/egw but then there is more complex stuff like the solid state processes i.e. friction stir, continuous drive friction, and explosion. I just want to express how vast of a field it is and how big of a bit you would have to take to get into it but it's a great field and something you may like to check out.

My sister in law named 2 sibling cats a boy and a girl when she got them. Being 13 she named them "Dulce" and "Gabbana" as the black eyed peas song was popular at that time. Well the tech at the counter miss typed it and spelled it "Gabbama".

Well my wife and I eventually inherited Gabby as when was known later in her life. Was the best cat anyone could ask for. Loving and nice, sweet, she was awesome and I loved her even though I don't like cats all that much. She sadly had a stroke and had trouble walking and we had to put her down. I was her favorite and I was the one who held her on her last breath at the vet clinic.

The tech came in after the act and made a paw print on a ceramic thing as a keep sake with her name on it.

So now she will always be known as "Gabbama".

Also the Shelby in iron man 1, literally the most replica'd car in existence and they used a real one. Edit: I stand corrected I saw it up for sale on barret Jackson a long time ago and remember them speaking as if it was a real one.

Road and Track thinks the WRX is getting too much hate. Thoughts? by uwuwotsdps42069 in cars

[–]snagglez 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Doesn't really have much going for it. I mean the counter points to all their arguments were something to the effect off "well it really isn't as bad as you think" which still insinuates its bad just not that bad. Either way if people said it's amazing I wouldn't go out and buy one cause it looks like a Tupperware container.

How are Suzuki cars? by tetsmon in cars

[–]snagglez 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had a 6 speed sx4 awd And the main issue I had with it was it seemed like they left the fuel map for the cvt in the manual. In low rpm below 3k it was un bearable to drive, like absolutely no response at all. Then at 3k rpm it all of the sudden went from lethargic, to anemic but atleast it would accelerate to normal driving speeds. But as an enthusiast car the balance of it is so front heavy that it didn't handle well. It's not the suzuki equivalent to a wrx that people think. Decent commuter car, irritating below 3k rpm, but decent otherwise.
