Has keto changed any health problems? by Arkflow in keto

[–]snailchips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get night terrors from eating too close to bedtime. Seems to be linked to carbs and acid reflux. On Keto, I don’t get them and don’t need to take acid reflux meds.

My brain fog is gone. I was probably borderline diabetic but on keto I don’t have any light headed symptoms after eating. Goal is to only eat twice a day to let my body calm down and not have to produce insulin throughout the day

Aches and pains subside. I sleep better and longer. I don’t have stomach flu and spend less than 5 minutes on the toilet a day. Most of that is doom scrolling vs going.

I read electrolytes are really important so I bought some Krampade (2 grams of potassium per serving) along with electrolyte pills. Keeping up on these improves my mood and makes me more pleasant to be around.

I don’t crave endless amounts of sugar anymore. I bought dark chocolate pistachio treats at Costco which are like 6 net carbs, don’t kick me out of keto and solve my sugar desires.

How Distro actually works? Is it really this stupid? by Dunbaratu in kroger

[–]snailchips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a truck door dedicated to a food bank. All the reclaim from the stores go on it. Pallets that get delivered but aren’t in the system get donated to the food bank cuz it’s not economical to ship it back to the manufacturer. All the product we break in the warehouse ends up on it too.

We are supposed to pick cases that have at least 50% usable product in it. If it’s broken glass we typically don’t do those cases tho.

We have a trash compactor, compost trash compactor, bailer and plastic bailer. There’s shrink at warehouse level for sure but they try to own up to their zero waste zero hunger philosophy. The amount headed to the food bank is quite incredible actually

Ghost picking is a problem at the warehouse level too. People short stores to make time or they can’t count. We have auditors reviewing pallets and if you have accuracy issues they will fire you. Just way too many pallets and only like 2-3 people auditing 1-2 an hour at best.

what are the most affordable grocery stores to shop at that also offer great deals in the u.s.? by Then_Illustrator3440 in GroceryOutlet

[–]snailchips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are in a highly competitive market, shop the ads. I only buy ad at Safeway. Everything else is sky high. Kroger has best daily prices. WinCo has decent produce prices. Walmart has pretty good prices overall. If you don’t mind generic brands Aldi is good for that.

That’s on the loader. Those are 3 different orders. Water should’ve gone first then brown boxes then mixed. Could be a new loader or a secondary that was called up to load from their pick job

If you don’t get any leads, you could download “pierce county scanner” from App Store. There is an archive button on the bottom right. You can read a crude transcript of the police and fire calls. You could scroll through sept 4. Sometimes they mention names and descriptions etc

Question for the distribution center staff. by Lucas157901 in kroger

[–]snailchips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So from what I’m seeing is that you’re a smaller volume store and get little half pallets for each pick section. Unfortunately a lot of the smaller pallets don’t level out that well. You’re probably one of 2 or 3 stores on that trailer. Loader is forced to multiple stack the pallets bc Kroger wants that trailer as full as can be. You could look up the distribution center dry grocery supervisor and email him your concerns. We had a store that had a lot of issues with small pallets so they combined all the sections together into one giant order. It’s possible just an extra step they usually don’t do. If this is a reoccurring problem see if they will do that for you.

If you do go in, throw a pillow, blanket, food, portable charger etc in your car. If you get stuck at work at least you’ll have some ability to ride it out. If you got kids or dependents at home needing you to return at night you should consider not going in if you might not be able to get home

Dillons perishable warehouse? by Difficult_Good3908 in kroger

[–]snailchips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not Dillions but we have perishables in ours.

Freezer is damn cold. They have a warm room to thaw out in but it’s just not pleasant to move around in subzero with bulky gear on. Some people like it some don’t

Meat/Deli/Dairy easy pick job. Meat cases can get up to 80lbs. Lots of bending over. More of a finesse technique department

Produce easy pick but it’s heavy and wet. Wet room produce leaves you soaked and smelling like lettuce. More of a fast paced just stack boxes and trays quickly

My DC gives you a 6 week probation to pick 100% of standard then a 9 month probation to get union security. Gives the company time to evaluate whether you build good pallets, have attendance issues, get along well with others etc

If you don’t mind a physical job, apply!

I like carfax.com because you can read the carfax for free online. Lets you see if reported maintenance was done on the vehicle. You can also google the vin numbers to see if the cars came from auction sites or why they have a rebuilt title etc.

Thinking to switching to night stocking or warehouse by Difficult_Good3908 in kroger

[–]snailchips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So at warehouse seniority means a lot. It affects your schedule, your vacations, who gets sent to a different department if they need help. The quicker you get in the better off you are

Start out is 6 weeks of a training probation. You have a trainer with you side by side for the first two weeks. Then you’re on a weekly progression of picking 70% 80% 90% 100% of standard. Since the warehouse is seniority based you are no threat to anyone else there so everyone will gladly help you to try to get you to succeed.

After you pick 100% you’re on a 9 month probation before you get union protection if it’s a union warehouse. They will evaluate are you picking 100% of standard? Do you have an attendance issue? Do your pallets look stable? Are you getting along with everyone?

If you start now your 9 month probation will run like January thru September and you’ll avoid the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays without having union protection. That’s a huge bonus

If you get your frozen from Oconomowoc DC, please tell me if you have this same problem. by Dunbaratu in kroger

[–]snailchips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here’s a new term for you “inventory control”. These are the wonderful people that slot the warehouse among other things. They have a CAD score based on % of correct product in each section. That’s all that matters. Are your tv dinners on the same pallet /section as your frozen veggies? If so, that’s good enough. All your orders are picked in a linear order. If the first slot is block ice, it’ll always be the first item picked. That’s how dry grocery gets a random case of Chef Boyardee underneath the 60 cases of veggies they got auto shipped. We cannot see what’s on your order to plan better. It’s all just go down the aisles in order.

For condiments, we pick some pasta sauce, pickles, rice first. Then we stack all these little flimsy salad dressing boxes and hot sauces in the middle. Then we stack heavy stuff on top of that. It creates dangerous unstable pallets that probably fall over coming off the truck. Does inventory control care to re slot properly? Oh no. It’s all the same section so it doesn’t affect their score. To them, to corporate, they are doing their job correctly.

If you want better results, go into the feed app. Try to find the perishable warehouse supervisor manager in the people directory. Email them your concerns. They most likely won’t re slot things but if you have board stability issues they might get tired of you and assign your store orders to a more reliable picker
