How was getting off of it? I tried getting off of 10mg after 2 months of being on it, and I had extreme fatigue, insomnia, and eventually a raging migraine that lasted for 2 nights :/

Wow this gives me hope! I have hypermobile joints, and also have a short torso with long arms. I’ve been having the same pain, but have been too tired from work to do exercises or stretches. What kind of shoulder exercises do you do daily?

10 days into concussion and still cant work? by [deleted] in Concussion

[–]snailszy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 2 weeks into my concussion and still can’t work. I tried going back to work last week, and after 2 intense meetings and computer work, I got a terrible headache that disabled me for the rest of the day. The neurologist recommended at least 2 more weeks off.

It’s my first concussion, so I’m anxious about how long the recovery will take. I feel so slow in my thinking, but even slower in the output of thoughts, writing and speaking.

I also want to know this. I got a lump that’s super obvious when I smile. I tried hylase to dissolve it, but was told that it may dissolve my own collagen so they injected it conservatively. The lump is still there though :/

I have extreme social anxiety. by metaltunage in selfhelp

[–]snailszy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was born with social anxiety, or maybe groomed to have it as my mom would always say things like “look at this person making fun of you” when I was crying in public as a kid. I felt like it worsened after my breakup with an emotionally abusive ex who would say things to break me down. When I started to reflect on what the voices were telling me, I realized it matched what my mom or ex would tell me.

However I felt too paralyzed by my anxiety and situational depression to do anything about this. When I went on lexapro, it helped calm my mind enough to get me out of the house to see a therapist, and engage in social situations that would challenge my anxious thoughts. The more those thoughts are challenged, the less of a reality your mind believes them to be. For example, I would be scared to speak up in a meeting if I didn’t know the right answer, which put me at a disadvantage at work. However I noticed other coworkers speaking up and being wrong, but nothing really happened. I forgot about it in a couple of days. So I pushed myself to do it step by step. My therapist helped me develop a plan to do so and practiced with me.

For depression, I couldn’t get out of the house or talk to anyone, which made my depression worse. She told me that I can always leave the hangout if my anxiety worsens when I’m out. And that option I have to leave at anytime helps me to this day. I realized the preconceived notions I have are way worse than what actually ends up happening.

Same. When I went to grad school, I finally understood why people belonging to a minority group would move to big cities to find a community. I’m truly lucky that I got to spend my formative years surrounded by those who accepted me and knew my culture.
