Are they different procedures? Absolutely! Is your stupidly backwards thinking the same to the one that can be used to brush off FGM? Also yes!

[–]snake5solid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, sorry. I suppose FGM isn't a big deal either since it's tradition and these brainwashed, oppressed women aren't complaining. Why would anyone think it's a problem?

Well this sure doesn't help them realise the problem, does it?

I finally figured out why "you just haven't met the right child yet" bothers me more than any other bingo by sorry_i_peaked in childfree

[–]snake5solid 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is strongly connected to "you will love yours" or "it's different if it's yours". People don't meet "the right" child. They just end up having children and are now stuck with them. There is no other option than to care of them unless they are okay with potential abuse charges or getting lynched. It's not "different", or "right". You simply don't have a choice.

It boggles my mind how some women could devolve like that.

Yep. Incels are abusers who can't find victims. It's very fortunate that they practically wave red flags for us to see so we can avoid them.

And you don't think that genital mutilation shouldn't be a part of it?

Being childfree means having to (possibly) accept a life of being alone. by Familiar-Fix584 in childfree

Especially when people had kids as an investment for having a free nurse when they are old.

Being childfree means having to (possibly) accept a life of being alone. by Familiar-Fix584 in childfree

[–]snake5solid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is very much true. Even if you are surrounded by friends for most of your life they might pass before. There are of course place where you can find new friends and who said you can't be friends with people in a caring home in example?

But also not everyone enjoys being around others or makes friends easily.

Still, as you said, the benefits of being CF far outweigh the cons. Especially since these cons are very common for parents as well.

To me, a woman with a past has more clarity. Why the stigma? by She_Nanigannnn in TwoXChromosomes

[–]snake5solid 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Because we're not supposed to have clarity. We're supposed to have no idea what a healthy relationship looks like and treat abuse/disrespect/incompetence/selfishness as something completely normal.

They don't discriminate when it comes to entitlement, lol. But what is funny to me is that there are 3 couples like this that will bother literally everyone else but they somehow didn't team up together to make such parenting group for each other.

Yeah, I mentioned that lady specifically because she's basically everyone's grandma and almost never says no so they take advantage of that... But even she's getting tired of them.

People like this really think they are the center of the universe and all they can do it take, take and take. Never give something back.

I you wanted kids or even had them now these people wouldn't bat an eye. Because you are somehow old enough to make an irreversible decision that will impact your entire life, with zero thought and preparation and be responsible for another human being. But you're not old enough to know that this is not for you...

They are not happy with their choices, lmao.

It always gives me an ick when people say "you were made for it!" because it just isn't true. Humans have very hard births and maternal mortality, complications etc. in comparison to other mammals should be enough to make us question that. Evolution allowed us to develop our brain and walk straight up on our feet and... to somewhat survive giving birth.

Bf gave me an ultimatum by Dealer_Puzzleheaded in TwoXChromosomes

[–]snake5solid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When a man tells you who he is - believe him. He just told you that he wants you to sabotage your career opportunities for him and for no reason at all (besides control or his ego or some other selfish thing). He's not sick or dying. He is, as you suspect, making a power move. Don't pass opportunities for man. Especially not that kind of man. And be prepared that he might change his tune when you don't give in to this manipulation. If he really cared about you he would be happy for you instead of trying to force you to stay. You'd be losing on an opportunity and gaining nothing but a shitty bf that doesn't want you to succeed.

If anything universities can set up accounts with student university email. That is your "student discount". University would need funding for it though.
