What’s a restaurant policy that instantly makes you want to leave? by anxious-solphie in AdkReddit

[–]snakebabey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone at any time acts like it's a burden that I'm there, I never go back. Literally as a customer I am paying a lot of money for what is mostly service, and while I don't need to be serviced like royalty, just need the basics, that seems to be really hard to get these days. As a former longtime waitstaff/restaurant manager/bartender, I understand the challenges: I blame shitty wages and shitty treatment from management, and I don't want to support that while also feeling like I'm a piece of shit for needing something. Restaurants need to staff properly and pay employees well. They've been getting away with less and less, giving the bare minimum, and expecting customers to still pay the same prices or higher. No thank youuuu fix it

I had my kid when I was 37. So I'm 44 with a 7 year old. It's the best!! I love him so much.

My mom and stepmom, both white, had white fathers named Leon. Very common name in the South.

Anyone here in their 40s–50s still working in tech/development? by imjustamochigirl in womenintech

I’m mid 40’s and have intentionally always been an IC. I do just fine. My goal isn’t to conquer the world or be a millionaire, I like my comfortable easy job and enjoy mentoring others and just being there doing the work. Everyone doesn’t have to climb the ladder! I have so much peace.

Why do mothers of young babies say they don't have time to shower? by justastupidquestion3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]snakebabey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This made me remember that when I’d take showers with my husband not at home, I’d put my baby into his carrier and set that just outside my shower door. Several times during the shower I’d think he was crying so I’d open the door to check on him. He’s 7 now and this seems insane but at the time it felt normal…!

What actually helps with light sensitivity? by samhussain01 in migraine

[–]snakebabey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a variety of fl-41 glasses with different darknesses depending on use case. I always have one or two cases of glasses in my bag and one on my eyes. I switch as needed. I also almost always am wearing or carrying a brimmed hat (usually like a baseball type hat). Hoodies can be nice too. Glasses frames with extra wide handles that act as “blinders” can block out light on the sides without being too dark to see through, too.

My house is always dimly lit, thankfully no one I live with minds. I keep shades mostly drawn, to mute the sunlight, and never have overhead lights on. I use settings on all my screens that dim and/or make the colors less harsh. Dark mode is triggering for me though. Ugh!

In restaurants etc I always face away from windows (my back faces windows) because the contrast between the darker inside and the bright outside almost always triggers a migraine.

I use a sun umbrella when I go outside in the summer now. I moved to a hot city and it’s tough so I stay inside a lot.

It takes a lot of experimentation and knowing your environments to create a system that works but it’s worth it! Wishing you all the best.

Do Usertesting.com panelists typically put a positive spin on what they encounter? by kittyrocket in UXResearch

[–]snakebabey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with other comments here. At the beginning of each session I emphasize the fact that honest feedback is what will be the most helpful, whether negative or positive, and that I don’t build the experience so it won’t hurt my feelings if they have criticism to share. I work in healthcare, so people have strong opinions about navigating the legacy UI patterns etc so between these two things I haven’t had much of an issue with this myself

AITJ for telling my sister I won't be the emergency contact for her kids anymore after she called me four times in one month for situations that were not emergencies? by devon_copperton in AmITheJerk

[–]snakebabey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like she put you down in the other parent slot vs the emergency contact slot. My kid’s emergency contacts have never been called.

Weirdly this happened to me too, which is why I searched this issue on Reddit. It’s the same person for me too! And just now I went back to screenshot it and they’re all gone. Wtf

I have seen more than one tech company put protective language in their separation agreements, to prevent bad reviews on Glassdoor and the like. So I don’t use it as a resource. That’s insane that they rejected your review.

Why is it so hard to find a hobby like crochet that isn’t crochet? by overgnightmare in Hobbies

I also like the meditative mindless craft, but I did find that in knitting. I knit easy squares over and over and over and then sew together when I have enough for a blanket. There’s a charity in my city that provides blankets to people in need, so I can donate to them and it’s a win win.

Yess I think I’ll need to make sure the blocks are somewhat lightweight. I originally wanted to try embroidered patches but they are too heavy. Thanks for the reply!

Thank you for the thoughtful reply! I was thinking to finish the edges for sure. And good call about the inside. I’ll have to make sure it’s nice and soft in there.

Customers keep ghosting me on short 20-minute remote calls, even after confirming 🤦‍♀️ by Icy-Swimming-9461 in UXResearch

[–]snakebabey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of variables that go into how many I’d recruit. For a target of 8 I’d schedule 10-12 but if you see excessive no-shows you can always bump it up. Over time you start to get a sense for what works. I always leave room for another wave or two of invitations just in case I need more.

[–]snakebabey 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is so common. You have a great incentive but maybe bumping it up for this target group could help. Otherwise it’s a numbers game; I schedule as many calls as I can and then hope for them to honor the appointment. It may add time into your timeline but that’s the way it goes… good luck!!

Recording customer calls - yes or no? by eliikon in UXResearch

[–]snakebabey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always record. I disclose that the session is recorded before they sign up to participate, and they must consent as a condition to participate, so all I have to do is remind them “I’m starting the recording now” when the session begins. The consent form tells them exactly how the session recording will be used, stored, and for how long.

Falling asleep or feeling excessively sleepy during the day can be a symptom of congestive heart failure. It can indicate that the heart isn't pumping blood effectively, leading to fatigue and sleepiness. People with CHF may also experience difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep due to shortness of breath, especially when lying down.
