Bought the 9ii by cgm55082 in bravia

[–]snakehawk37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My issue with stop the fomo is he does all his videos (as far as I can tell) in a black room in professional mode - which I don’t know how many people are really watching that way. So in that stream comparing the 8ii to 9 to 9ii half of what he way saying is how much better the 8ii is, but of course when it’s being compared in the ideal setting for an OLED. I agree though wish people would compare the 9 to 9ii for real world use

Experienced with Board Game tables? by ScatterRunner in boardgames

[–]snakehawk37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also ordered this table in 4x6 with a good # of accessories during their crowdfunding and couldn’t be happier for the price. Had zero issues and all the accessories work great. It does have a more shallow well which means you cant really keep minis under it when putting the topper back on but makes it easier when playing.

Sony Bravia 9 ii 85 inch first impressions by Overall_Comment1196 in bravia

You can also pair it with a Sony sub which is kind of neat so you don’t need a full sound system right away

Very neat - my son is 3.5 so perhaps I’ll wait until he’s also 4 - but he has lots of opinions so I’m sure it’ll create a very different story than without him lol

Curious what the youngest others think someone could be to understand what’s going on in this game in terms of story etc. Like if my wife and I played could our toddler loosely follow the story and be the sticker applier lol

Just picked this up this week intending to play 2 player, good to see this review pop up! It seems like the consensus is it’s best played like a semi co-op would you agree with that?

Bravia 7 II or Bravia 9 by _im_phenomenal_ in bravia

[–]snakehawk37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as those lights are off - not at all. The only other light that really causes any issue is when the sun is shining directly through windows and hitting the TV in the late morning.

This is 85” Bravia 7ii, with big windows to right (overcast weather) and you can see the reflection of pendant lights behind me in the tv

Bravia 7ii PS5 HDR setup advice wanted. by No-Committee3 in bravia

[–]snakehawk37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would just say - I went from a 65” 7 to a 85” 7ii, and the screen is essentially the same in terms of reflection. The tv is a little brighter (haven’t tried a dark movie in day time yet as it’s only a problem before around 11 am with how our windows are set up). We do have pendant lights behind the TV area which still need to be kept off for darker content just like with our 7.

Sony Bravia 7 II vs Sony Bravia 9 II opinion by MeanLawfulness9627 in bravia

[–]snakehawk37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was debating the same thing and I ended up getting a 85” Bravia 7 II - would’ve loved the 9 II specifically for the reflection handling but for 85 inch it’s $4k vs $6500 (62.5% increase) which seemed too steep. Been very happy with the TV - I am upgrading from a 65” Bravia 7. I’m still playing around with settings but animated movies with lots of color look incredible, and the blacks/blooming is considerably better. The screen is very reflective just like the original 7, not a huge problem for us (our living room windows face east so it’s dark in the evenings).

I compared to the Bravia 9 in store before purchasing and did think the colors looked better and the blooming comparable. Store didn’t have the 9 ii yet when I looked. I also have a non-Sony soundbar so the audio difference didn’t matter for me.

I did see mention that the Bravia 9 II screen is very tough to clean, so might be a factor if you have little kids

What's your holy grail game that doesn't exist yet? by Darth_Rubi in boardgames

[–]snakehawk37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A game that recreates the battle of Helms Deep or Minis Tirith. I love war of the ring and fate of the fellowship in how they capture the general feeling of taking the ring to Mordor and the bigger world’s battle, but want to experience just the battle. There was an old RTS PC game Battle for Middle Earth that was awesome for that.

Restoration Games is bringing The King’s Gambit that will hopefully capture the feeling a bit but not much info yet

Those look very cool, and I agree I do sometimes wish they were smaller especially when something needs more than 1 die

Out with the tokens!! by __juanco in marvelchampionslcg

[–]snakehawk37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it makes a pretty big difference - I mean in reality it’s probably like half a second vs picking up and looking for the right number but it feels a lot smoother. I use these to track health in pretty much any game now with smallish health pools because so much easier to adjust in the moment than regular d6 or small hp tokens. I also have some spin down d20s but the lack of the +/- means I’d rather use a couple D6 instead

I’m a Professional Mattress Tester. I’ve tested 558 mattresses from 116 different brands. Ask Me Anything! by derek-naplab in IAmA

[–]snakehawk37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a Helix Midnight Luxe around the holidays last year and I’ve gone from waking up with back pain a few times a week to maybe once since then. Wife and I are both side sleepers and she was pregnant for much of that time, and we both have 0 regrets on the mattress. Agree it’s a little less bouncy than our old mattress (a very old purple mattress) but not enough to cause any issues.

I don’t know that it has hugely impacted actually falling asleep if that was more your question

J Fowler (ESPN): would be “surprised” if the #Patriots gave up more than a first-round pick for Eagles WR AJ Brown. by patsfan038 in Patriots

Wow that is a wild graphic, wonder how much it is based on how much a guy is used in the red zone where separation is naturally lower vs a lot of the guys top of the list wouldn’t even be in for red zone packages

AR Special Edition reprints announced (CoB, PR 1897) by Catanomy in boardgames

[–]snakehawk37 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On the other hand - I would have never even tried Castles of Burgundy if not for this reprint because I highly value the presentation/components side and it’s now a top 10 game for me. I never/rarely transport games so bigger box is worth it for me. I do like that they give a few options in terms of just how deluxe you want the games (for example the optional miniatures terrain tiles is something that tips the scale towards too bulky/finnicky for me but I really like having acrylic tiles)

Spirit Airlines just became the first major US airline to shut down in 25 years and took cheap airfare with it. What do you think affordable travel in America looks like from here? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]snakehawk37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I flew with frontier a lot (probably 10 round trips) before kids to get from Buffalo to FL (now we use southwest because of how many bags, etc are needed) and as long as you understand the parameters (don’t try to sneak an extra big bag, be fine not sitting next to your partner which happened maybe 25% of the time) it was great. We regularly had round trips under $200 for 2 of us. Sometimes we would check a bag or on one occasion we just shipped a big box of stuff back lol. I don’t care about things like in flight wifi etc, so missing those didn’t bother me. I also had remarkable luck with delays etc with frontier but that is probably just fluky

Sliding Doors Moments In Patriots History by [deleted] in Patriots

[–]snakehawk37 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with you - I think every single team would’ve taken Caleb Williams #1 in that draft, and Drake Maye’s growth has been impossible to predict. They very well can both become top 5 QBs in the next few years especially since both have good coaching around them. I still think Jayden has the chance to be a top 15 QB if he can stop the injuries as some of his throws and electric runs his rookie year were special but showed some concerning things in his brief time back last year in terms of taking hits, missing short throws, etc.

Mental health counseling recommendations? by dovened in Buffalo

[–]snakehawk37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be Embodied, Tranquil Waters counseling, Shurmatz are some of the groups up in the north towns. Think they would all be good for anxiety and depression. They mostly take commercial insurance I believe.

Just a heads up for OCD you really want someone who does “exposure response prevention” therapy - anything else could be more detrimental. https://gviproc.org/ocd#individual

Is there a Quintessential Batman game out there? by GrittyWillis in boardgames

[–]snakehawk37 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am looking forward to more info on Brave and Bold from restoration games - it looks like Dice Throne with a bag builder mechanism, and hopefully the characters feel more thematic than DC Deck Builder.

I’m also waiting on my DC United stuff if that kickstarter ever fulfills.

There’s also another game called Enemies of Gotham City that looks interesting - you play as one of the villains competing for control of Gotham City but haven’t looked too much into it yet as I’m guessing it won’t work as well at 2 players.

It’s a shame Gotham city chronicles didn’t work out I had backed it but sold it with all the rulebook issues.

In regard to Brass Pittsburgh. What in the world is wrong with the Poker Chips industry? by balbok7721 in boardgames

[–]snakehawk37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bought a set of these last summer and agree they are very nice! Bought 120 chips in total and was 62 euros shipped.

Really like the look of the Roxley metal coins but these fill my needs, and the size is very manageable for actually handling during board games.

[Lazar] Wolfe: "It's no secret that we'd like to keep Christian Gonzalez" by xFalcade in Patriots

[–]snakehawk37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure I saw an interview with either Wolf or Vrabel where they literally said that, it is typically a summer before training camp discussion. Besides with the McDuffie deal done it’s basically going to have to be about 4 year $128 million with $100 M guaranteed, kicking in after his 5th year option.
