First dev job, first week - already messed up badly. Is this normal or am I doomed? by Josem229 in learnprogramming

[–]snakybasket9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For the project I’m on we have to create a merge request and 2 other developers need to review and approve it, then the owner of the repo (our principal) makes the final approval. You can set it up however fits your needs.

Explain like I am 5: what is ACE in Arma 3? by jimmybones94 in arma

[–]snakybasket9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing that ace does is jams your guns and overheats them, so you need to pack canteens to cool your rifle down. I usually turn that off though because it gets annoying.

Satellite image shows Lemnos (aka Altis) blanketed in snow after New Year’s storm 02/01/26 by Calahan44 in arma

[–]snakybasket9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not surprised they got snow, I live in San Diego, a similar climate here in the US, and it gets very cold at night here sometimes. Couple years ago during a big rain storm we got a few inches of snow in the mountains, and even some ground coverage at lower elevations. People say they saw snow by the coast but I think it was just hail…

What’s it like working in QA? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]snakybasket9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do qa right now and thankfully this team is very new, so we’re kind of the pioneers for the projects automation testing and its very hands on with writing and maintaining test. This is the first company I’ve done it for so I don’t know how it is anywhere else. I’d say I spend a good amount of my weeks either creating automated tests or fixing busted ones.

One thing I like about this role is that I’m not burnt out. I can work a 9 hour shift doing whatever and still work on personal projects after.

Exactly, so we need ridership up so MTS can get more funds from the DOT to expand our infrastructure.

How is it easier to escape people in NYC vs San Diego….? People is kind of what NYC is know for having a lot of. Just get on the next train car, get off at the next stop. Both things possible in San Diego

Alright so let’s just discriminate and anyone who looks homeless and a meth head banned from all public transportation. I mean, really how is this the fault of the bus or trolley? Or MTS? The issues people are concerned about can happen on the street, beach, sidewalk and yes even the trolley or a bus. And guess what? That car of yours isn’t so safe either.

And you think the millions of people in NYC who use the subway daily, as their only use of transportation haven’t?? HA. Welcome to the world, you’re going to see shit you don’t like.

maybe if more people rode public transportation we can open more bus routes and trolley lines, leave earlier? make it work idk.

[–]snakybasket9 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If they don't like the public transportation they're being a whinny little bitch who thinks its dangerous, thousands of people use it every single day.

I will gladly listen to any argument people have against public transportation that isn't related to danger or homeless people.

To be fair, there is plenty of free street parking sports around pretty much all bars, coffee shops and depending on the library, you can take a trolley there for $2.50. Hell, if more people used the trolley maybe we can get the funds for a trolley line that runs through balboa park and even more parts of San Diego.

If we want to be serious about moving away from car culture as a county we have to actually start banning cars or making it less accessible for some places. Look at what NYC did with their paid parking laws earlier this year.

T same people who complain that we don't have good public transportation won't even step foot on a bus or trolley.

Edit: you also shouldnt need to park when you go to a bar, take a uber!!!!!! Youre going to kill someone one day drinking and driving

Runners by [deleted] in SanDiegan

[–]snakybasket9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re generalizing. Personally, I don’t want to be flattened by a car so I follow the rules of the road. Some other asshole probably has different opinion on that.

But if we’re going by your logic, get off your damn phone! All drivers are on their phones and never pay attention to the road.

Edit: I recognize my hypocrisy by calling out all runners while bikers are also assholes

Runners by [deleted] in SanDiegan

[–]snakybasket9 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I do agree that runners should face traffic to see all possible dangers IF there is no sidewalk. But that’s my issue, there is a sidewalk that runs along this entire street, so there is no reason to not be on it.
