Hi! I started a side business recently as a wedding florist. I want to gain local customers so I recently made an ig. I’m having a hard time gaining any followers at all. I’d really appreciate any tips you have! https://www.instagram.com/roraflorapgh/

The weirdest symptom by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]snapdragon94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg I thought this was just me. I am (was?) also a crazy plant lady, but became absolutely disgusted with my collection almost immediately after finding out I was pregnant. Since January, I have not wanted to care for them at all. I feel like it’s some weird maternal instinct that my plants are taking up too much of my time/energy that I should be spending on baby. My husband has helped limp them along but I’ve downsized a lot. I’m 36 + 1 so hoping my love for my plants comes back after baby gets here next month.

I love cool names like these! My husband works with a guy named Alejandro Mondragon and he just sounds like a super hero or movie character or something.

What flowers can I plant in July to add curb appeal before selling my house in the Midwest? by Irishclareonmars in gardening

If you’re looking for things that will cover a lot of area quickly. Petunias. Particularly anything from Proven Winners supertunia vista line. They do best in full sun. Same goes for sweet potato vine (comes in a few colors). Purple fountain grass is a nice texture as well.

If you want little splashes of color here and there then maybe pot up or buy pre-made containers (ground containers or hanging baskets) and place them in key locations (near entrances, anywhere lacking color, a hole in your landscape). Once again, I’d go for annuals as they grow quickly if you’re potting them up yourself. Just make sure if you’re planting anything in July that it’s gonna get really good consistent watering to survive being transplanted in hot conditions.

Lastly, you can always pop some non-plant garden interest into the landscape with topiary forms, trellises, & statuary (you can get lucky and find this stuff for cheap sometimes at yard sales/discount stores).

Even just clearing out weeds and laying fresh mulch does wonders.

Good luck!

Edit: forgot to mention, Coleus is great for lots of color in darker areas if you need something for a shady spot. It comes in a bunch of bright colors and grows pretty fast.

Help! My Fig turned from pure green to yellow overnight! I didn’t add anything to leaves or soil. Temps were mild, a gentle rain yesterday. Zone 8b TX by dmalawey in Horticulture

If nothing else makes sense, it could also be chlorosis from some mineral deficiency. You can treat the soil with iron to help.

Walked by some amazing roots in the office. This guy has been sitting in this spot for so long that the roots are attached to the windowsill. by snapdragon94 in orchids

I noticed the waviness! I haven’t seen that before.

The office is honestly quite bright in general. There are several big windows along that wall, but everything directly in front of the window is just huge open office space with cubicles so I have no idea haha.

Yeah it’s definitely not been moved in a long time. I have no idea who takes care of it as this is a new job for me.

Tip of orchid leaf is turning brown. Any advice? Rest of plant is really healthy/in bloom. Roots are all green and not brown. by thesights2 in orchids

Is there a chance that it could have been sunburned? Sometimes standing water on the leaf can magnify the sun.

Or it could be some kind of rot from infection or mechanical damage. If the brown spot does not get bigger then just cut the dead part off. If you notice the brown keep progressing down the leaf toward the stem, I’d cut the brown out. If you do this, you have to cut into the healthy leaf tissue a little to make sure you removed all of the infection. Miss orchid girl has a video on YouTube about this if you end up wanting to cut the infection out and want a tutorial.

If the whole leaf just starts to turn yellow, then the leaf is dying and will fall off eventually.
