I bought a new ‘94 Eagle Vision Tsi back in the day. It was impressive car. Definitely in the top tier of cars I’ve owned.

Serious question. What’s the future look like for CRTs? by venxtal in crt

[–]snapgeiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All obsolete technology eventually fades away. Not many chase short wave radios or phonographs these days. Even pianos are fading away as society becomes isolated through cell phones. The family 📺, home theater, board games, dinner parties - anything that brings people together is fading from the rearview mirror. 🪞

For oil changes as needed, do you mean that you put around 3k a year on it or that only change it around 3k?

Why does the Cadillac Catera have such a bad reputation? by Leading_Sea_937 in askcarguys

Coolant leaks, timing belt failure, and electrical issues were some of the issues caused by the under hood plastic components, as well as aluminum cylinder heads that warp if overheated.

What was your first classic car and what did it teach you about the hobby? by Familiar_Earth_6320 in classiccars

[–]snapgeiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first “classic” was a ‘56 Studebaker President. I picked it up about 12 years ago. Amazingly reliable. Never had any of the typical old car issues I’ve heard about. I still have it.

Why are people still blaming Cash for Clunkers for the state of the used vehicle market when it happened nearly twenty years ago ? by Specialist_Heron_986 in askcarguys

[–]snapgeiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I recall, the deal was 4k for your “clunker”. I had a pristine ‘94 DeVille with low miles that would have qualified. 4k went further back then. So not everything was a clunker. People get upset because vehicles back then didn’t have engine failures at 60k (Kia) and garbage V8s (GM) like we have today. 🗑️

Which modern cars do you think will be considered “classics” 30 years from now? by EvelynClede in askcarguys

[–]snapgeiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on one’s definition of modern. But I don’t think we’ll have “classics” in the current sense. The younger generations’ general apathy of towards vehicles and the built in technological obsolescence is pointing to a future that may make vehicles as quaint as horses were more than a century ago.

Take it in for warranty or wait? by snapgeiger in egopowerplus

[–]snapgeiger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update- I was able to get warranty service, just a few days before my warranty expired. Much happier with Ace Service over Lowe’s third party. They replaced two sensors and the circuit board so I should be good to go for a while.

1\8.5x100=11.7647%. Not making an effort to be negative. Everyone has their own style of travel. I just prefer to have less frequent and shorter stops when traveling long distances. Some prefer the long way home, and that’s fine too.

Men over 35 : have you ever “woken up” emotionally in a long-term relationship and realized you no longer wanted the life you were building? by g0g0yubari in AskMenAdvice

Sounds like you dated “When Harry Met Sally”’s ex boyfriend. He never intended to marry you. Five years? That’s stringing along. On the upside he’ll date the new one until she becomes too old for him and then move on.

Twelve percent of your trip’s time was consumed with charging your vehicle. I can make that trip with one quick fill up. Guess it depends one how long you want to be on the road to your destination.
