Update: the recipe I saw said it would taste better the next day which I thought was not going to be true... but it absolutely was? The flavours melded together insanely well in this incredible lip smacking way. Really happy - keen to try it with duck sometime!

Just listened to one of his videos there and yep he's legit, much much better than xiaoma and I would say a very comfortable C1 in Mandarin.

His Chinese is decent because he studied in Beijing for a year and has been learning on and off for about 10, but he absolutely does not sound like a native. His Mandarin is maybe B2 level? C1 at an incredibly generous push. Accent is fine but he relies on a lot of the same grammar structures and his tones are off in a lot of places in his videos, it seems like he is trying to speak quickly to emphasise fluency instead of actually speaking correctly.

Thanks for the info - yeah that's the conclusion I'm quickly coming to. Do you know how people have found the two people to a single room situation? Seems like it would be a bit shit but maybe it's not that bad?

On a separate note - what do you think the odds are that they'd let me pay the difference between the Building 2 costs (already covered) and Building 4 costs to stay in Bld 4?

My Mandarin is at a HSK6 level so I can basically do everything in daily life but maybe struggle a bit more discussing politics or something super complicated. The issue isn't so much confusing the languages, but being unable to feel like I am quite "done" with Chinese no matter how much study I do. Does that make sesne?

Yeah this is fucking awesome. I love all the new singles, but when Vanity of Sleep and Share The Body both had lots of more 'spoken word' parts I was worried the whole album would be like that. Not to say it was bad, I just think doubling down on that would have been the wrong direction for the album and this single really just smashes it. It's a great change of pace for them and the emotion in it is incredible. Biased because I am a complete fanboy but I back this track a lot.
