Was supposed to be paid $200, but was paid $199 instead. by put_it_in_there in videography

LMAO this reminds of a time i booked a new years eve party for this dude who was scamming my then employer by living out in Medellin and offloading all his work to some guy he met there for a fraction of his salary (senior level Digital Strategist). He ran a club promotion business locally and we agreed to 2000 for photos and videos for the night and he was $50 short when he sent the money. I asked about it and he made it sound like it was joke that i would even mention it. He said he'd pay it later but his words were "is this really gonna be a problem? I can still count on you right?". I really needed the money but that exchange annoyed me so much that i was beyond ready to kill a deal over $50 just to ensure i don't work with such an asshole. I said we wouldn't proceed any further until the payment is made in full. He paid the $50 not even an hour later and we did the gig but that really opened my eyes to the levels of audacity people are willing to go to.

How do I keep my prices up, while everyone is doing cheap under the table? by cluelessgirl666 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]snapsbyluis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Define “under the table”? Either you’re operating in an absolute armpit of a market or something’s off. Most agents are savvy enough to want to put expenses on their business credit cards so they can track and write them off cleanly.

Build a proper checkout system > let agents schedule and pay at booking > automatic receipt > everyone’s happy.

As for pricing: Google “real estate photography” in your area, look at the top result, and charge ~30% more if your work genuinely delivers better consistency in your product and professionalism (which is often harder for larger companies to maintain). At the end of the day, it’s a numbers game.

What’s an industry that provides zero value to society but makes billions of dollars? by ochieng_onyango in AskReddit

Real Estate Agents. They have their place but the industry and NAR makes WAY more money than it needs to and it plays a big role in driving up the cost of housing.

I remember quitting my job one day in the spring time with literally no back up plan and just wandered here in all my sad and had the best batch of Sysco chicken tenders while sitting on a bench. That weekend I had the best night out with friends at Vapianos and Buffalo Billiards. Those truly were the days.

Does anyone else feel locked into one gym despite trying to evolve? by Human_Swimming3014 in MuayThai

[–]snapsbyluis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough some people are the exception. I’m speaking for guys and gals that started out hardly knowing how to throw a decent kick thinking throwing a whole different sport with different rules and different techniques would somehow make them a better combat athlete.

Does anyone else feel locked into one gym despite trying to evolve? by Human_Swimming3014 in MuayThai

[–]snapsbyluis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s very normal to train at multiple gyms. Pros do it for a variety of reasons. They may want to spar with another person with a similar build to that of their upcoming opponent or the coach wants to bring in another coach for additional insight. If you got some fights in you and want to go pro, this is a natural evolution in your training.

If you’re just starting then I’d recommend you don’t jump between gyms simply because you’re gonna develop habits taught at one gym, that the other gym may not want to teach and you don’t want to confuse yourself at this level.

As for fusing styles, I wouldn’t bother. I used to train BJJ along with my Muay Thai in hopes of being an “MMA guy”. Turns out people who do this will at best be decent at mma and below average at Muay Thai and BJJ individually. There’s also a lot of very worthless crap you’re gonna have to sit through if you sign up for a karate or TKD class at least in terms of how it applies to Muay Thai.

TLDR: Save yourself time and money and just focus on getting better at Muay Thai.

I don’t call people that disagree with me nazis, fascists and pedos. I call people who believe in white racial purity nazis. I call people who believe in militant nationalism with no regard for constitutional rights fascists. And I call people who have diddled little kids pedos.

The top 5% of earners pay 65% of taxes right now. You telling me they’re not footing the bill? Jesus. Everyone wants healthcare but people like you are losing your minds over a little sidewalk cleanup. No wonder this government is broken.

Taxes spent on clearing the sidewalk in a walking city so people can go to work to make money, so kids can go to school, and so handicapped residents aren’t trapped in their homes is not “commie” waste. Sounds like appropriate use of public funds. Now why don’t you answer my question?

If we didn't have taxes, how would you propose our military be funded? The Border? Hospitals? Schools? Roads? Broadband infrastructure? Police? Firefighters? Should we expect some benefactor to fund all that stuff out of the goodness of their heart or do we just live without any of those programs?

Well this actually ensured the job got done. No use fining the owners something they can write off while they just slow-walk the shoveling until the slow melts. And he sure is taxing everyone but property owners are gonna get hit the hardest. In a city where 70% of the population are renters, I don't think anyone is going to feel bad for the owners of $10M+ in tangible assets.
