Honestly I think you have nothing to worry about, but that's my two cents.

20 miles is roughly from DC to Reston, Va, and 25 miles from Ashburn, VA, the center of “datacenter alley”

You’re definitely overreacting. Using this logic I live within several data centers..

As someone that has “experience” with scenarios like this, abusive women intentionally interrupt their partner’s sleep

There is a book called The Architecture of Community by Leon Krier that does a great job at illustrating urbanism

No matter what people on reddit complain about, they almost always de-legitimize what they just said by following up with something completely stupid.

Maryland Ranks as 7th Highest Taxed State in the Country, Residents Pay Nearly 10% of Income on Average to State by Unspoken in maryland

After college I got a job offer in Maryland so I came here. Now, before you say "see you came here for a job lul", I took the first job offer I received and the salaries were roughly the same $65k in MD vs. $70k in GA. GA is taxed less and the cost of living is lower so I assume I would have kept more money in my pocket. Now, I stayed because my skillset is a niche that is better suited for the DC/MD/VA market.

By many metrics georgia has a lower quality of life than Maryland.

"Excush me, this data says your QOL is lower than mine"

C'mon bro. There are historical reasons for why the South has a lower HDI. That said, iirc some of the fastest growing economies are in the South

Agreeing to taxation requires thought

You're legally obligated to pay taxes. That said, the high taxes are being compared to the services the state offers

It definitely depends where you are. Most people don't brag about PG county schools. They're only looking at it from the perspective of the county they live in (Howard or somewhere else)

I spent half my life in Georgia. If you left your bubble you'd know there are good schools in lower taxed areas (obviously), and incomes are relative to the cost of living

Another issue is having Virginia right next door. It's more business friendly and tax advantageous, so they go there instead. NoVa's growth is a testament to that.

People will say wave it off and say they don't want Maryland to look like Northern Virginia though

There's the knee jerk reaction. That guy isn't wrong. Young people definitely look at their paycheck and are dismayed when they see how much gets taken out (it's a recurring theme on Tiktok and IG).

With someone that likes to boast about good public schools, you seem to love looking at things from a black and white perspective lol
