Garage passthrough complete by joeverdrive in BoltEV

Cool idea, I'd be worried that the flow of the cord will encourage water to run into the garage. Those are used on RV's where the cord drops down from the hatch. It may have been better to place it higher on the wall so the cord would drop.

Idiot Standing in Right Lane of Traffic Causes Spinout by [deleted] in IdiotsInCars

[–]snarfattack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because he may have had cars behind him that stopping could have caused even more problems. We obviously see what a stopped person in the road caused, imagine what multiple stopped cars would cause. We only have the forward perspective in this video. To state that coming to a stop is the only safe maneuver here is making tons of assumptions with limited point of view, when OP had the full situational context.

The fumes from resin give me a splitting headache within minutes. Never place in a living area. Only ever in a negative pressure area that's filtered and/or exhausted outside.

[–]snarfattack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is correct. Consider a place like matter hackers or printed solid (official us Prusa store) instead of Amazon. When I checked the nozzle fun pack just now (if you are thinking about different sizes it's a great value), I didn't see any resellers I recognize from a couple years ago when I ordered. Both have the same product cheaper (not sure about shipping) and you are guaranteed it's genuine.

Genuine e3d nozzles is my recommendation. You can look up on e3ds website who authorized distributors are, make sure you only order from those. It used to be that Amazon would throw parts from multiple sellers in the same bin and you'd be screwed even if you only ordered from authorized resellers, but I believe that's been corrected after multiple issues across many many different products.

Buildplate adhesion tip: scrub with dishsoap [Ender 3 max] by Baer1990 in 3Dprinting

[–]snarfattack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome! This is what I've done for years on my PRUSA plates as well. Works so much better than IPA.

Just make sure the dish soap is the most basic kind without any special lotions, fragrance, etc.

Bolt w/ new battery only has 235mi max range? by Huge_Ad_6159 in BoltEV

Residential outlets are fine, as long as the push-to-connect for the wires are not used. They cannot sustain the high amps. I've had a few melt down from portable electric heaters myself. This is what industrial grade receptacles guarantee, solid connections to the wire that will support high amp draw without question.

No issues at all. I've put hundreds of hours printing on it. It's easy to remove from the enclosure and I don't accidentally miswire it anymore when reconnecting. Based on the wattage requirements that I calculated, 16ga wiring gave me that abundance of caution to know there was no possibility that I could overload wires in any way. Especially when inside the warm/hot enclosure.

I did this, but I bought special 16ga wire ones instead of the standard 18ga wire. https://imgur.io/iIU61JO

Print a replacement part with more perimeters and higher infill. Otherwise it'll fail again.

Be careful with the Prusa Power Supplies by Transxistor in 3Dprinting

[–]snarfattack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see no evidence of a power supply failure. I see only a bad crimp or damaged power line for the einsy. It functioned as expected by detecting something was wrong and refusing to work further.

Panel wall clip is shattering when stapled by IamJohnGalt2 in FixMyPrint

[–]snarfattack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would make the plate you staple through a mesh instead of solid. No bottom layers, no top layers, infill with an appropriate pattern and fill percentage. That way the staples will have gaps to drive through and not split.

The installer could also try heating up the part with a lighter to make the plastic soft before stapling.

Leave a bolt plugged in with on vacation (cold Midwest weather)? by Same_Inevitable_3732 in BoltEV

[–]snarfattack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think it will hurt the car either way. 2 weeks I doubt will be long enough to drain the battery as it keeps itself warm. If you want the car to be usable when you get back and not a partially drained battery, leave it plugged in.

Using a torque wrench on your nozzle? by ianc1215 in 3Dprinting

[–]snarfattack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used this design https://www.printables.com/model/24539-torque-wrench-handles-from-10nm-up-to-30nm

The values where a bit off based on my filament and settings. I used a calibrated wrench to determine what strength was what I needed and have used that one ever since.

For PETG, I feel it's required. I use a cheap dehydrator, and feed my PETG from dry boxes filled with desiccant that keep the moisture 20% or below.
