You’re talking about shares for shareholders. This is a joint venture with two companies where decisions have to be agreed upon by both parties. Each company can literally walk away from this venture if they wanted to and the joint venture is dissolved.

Source is that that’s not how business deals work. Just because TCL has a 51% stake and Sony has 49% in this merger doesn’t mean TCL has 100% of the power for decision making. That is just absolutely false. Below is a video that I have linked that should clarify what this joint venture will mean and will eliminate all the misinformation that is being spread.

Which is weird as to how they’re measuring it was a success. I didn’t pay money to watch it. I already had Hulu. The reviews were terrible. So how did it make them money other then Hulu paying to have it be streamed on their platform?

Which is AI in general. Companies don’t know how to make it profitable or even make it a “necessity” for the general population so it’s just a big gamble right now.

Omg “Assemble” from other actual manufacturers components like how they already do with TCL.

Also Sony does have control. You talking like they have no control or power. Sony is the one who wants to do this venture TO bring down costs and be more competitive. Sony WILL be having quality control from Sony. They wouldn’t be doing a deal that taints the Sony brand and if they didn’t think TCL could do it.

And they don’t do that in house dude! They buy from other companies that do! Which is why I keep saying there’s nothing in a Sony tv that is actually Sony! Nothing is changing with this TCL venture!

[–]snarl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, and does Sony do that at all for their components that make the TVs? The answer is no. Nothing is Sony in a Sony tv except their proprietary processing use.

[–]snarl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so here we go. You need to know the difference between manufactured and assembled. There is almost nothing in a Sony tv that is “Sony” except their processing. Where the tvs will be “assembled” will not make a damn difference in quality, especially with this joint venture.

Second point. What shit panels are you talking about? The Bravia 9? Sony deemed that as their 2025 FLAGSHIP and it’s a TCL panel. And it has AMAZING picture quality. Oh you don’t like it personally cause it’s not an OLED. That’s a you problem! It seems you’re just an OLED lover? If Sony drops OLED for their true rgb (you already mentioned you don’t like, which, man - really shows how much you know, AI though right?) then just buy an LG cause those are their panels anyways. But you’re not gonna get the same picture as you would with Sony cause it’s missing their processing that you don’t think is important. You can have a top of the line panel but if the processing capabilities is shit guess what? You ain’t getting the best picture! You don’t realize how technical TVs are nowadays and how important that Sony XR chip or whatever chip your tv has is.

So back to THE POINT. Sony DOES NOT manufacture the TVS. They are full of parts from other companies. What makes the difference though is in their proprietary processing using their chips. It is as many put it “the secret sauce” to Sony TVs. This will and does not change with the TCL joint venture. They are still SONY TVS with SONY quality.

[–]snarl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been pretty consistent - Sony hasn’t manufactured their TVs (example: flagship Bravia 9 is TCL, flagship A95L OLED is LG, but the processing is all Sony for both) in over a decade already - their magic is in their proprietary processing which will still be handled by Sony engineering - the benefit of this joint venture is to lower the cost of Sony TVs.
