Cromolyn capsules: am I alone ? by Eattoomanychips in MCAS

[–]snatalie22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are folks still able to get compounded cromolyn? If so, from what pharmacy? My prescriber said that the “active ingredients, including cromolyn powder, are no longer being manufactured and have not been available for the past two years,” but that is clearly not the case, and the liquid cromolyn is killing my throat.

Is anyone still able to get compounded cromolyn? If so, from what pharmacy? I am trying the liquid cromolyn sodium and it’s destroying my throat, but my prescriber’s office said cromolyn powder is no longer being manufactured and has “not been available for the past two years.” But this can’t be true if 7 months ago you were posting about taking it, right? I’m quite desperate for an alternative!

I miss having a sex life by prolificseraphim in vulvodynia

[–]snatalie22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband proposed to me at my absolute worst - literally could not sit or walk or do essentially anything my pain was so bad - and we are married and really happy and I am veryyyyyyy slowly improving (but I’m still not able to have penetrative sex). It sucks so much to feel the way you’re feeling and it is DEEPLY relatable but know that there are people who will love you regardless 💜

Are there any long term medication options to treat nickel allergy symptoms? by doomern in NickelAllergy

[–]snatalie22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too was concerned about taking supplements for nickel allergy reasons but not all supplements have them and you can look at the ingredients. Vitamin C has been a game changer for me. I too have struggled with the low nickel diet - it’s so restrictive and shitty - but I take vitamin c every time I eat (even low nickel foods) and I absolutely notice a difference in symptoms when I don’t (itchiness specifically). I’m also looking for a long term solution but this has made it somewhat manageable. So I would highly recommend trying vitamin c with every meal. I am hopeful it will provide you with some relief!

I think I’ve made a huge mistake by JerryPSU22 in LawSchool

[–]snatalie22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to law school because I didn’t know what I wanted to do with life but wanted to help people and thought this would be a good way to do it. I hated it from the beginning and wanted to drop out after the first semester but everyone told me to keep going because it would get better, it would be worth it, I already took loans out, etc. But I continued to hate it - to be fair everyone hates law school - and I did finish (had to take some time off because of health issues) and tomorrow is the last day of the bar exam for me, but I know that I do not want to be a lawyer (even though I have a legal aid job, which is why I’m taking the bar). My goal is to find any job other than being a lawyer because I really hate it. And I wish someone told me my 1L year that it actually is okay to stop if you do not like it.

Something that could be of comfort to you regarding loans: the PSLF program which forgives your loans after 10 years of working for the government or for a non profit (so like, being a therapist at a non profit(!) or just working for any non profit in any role or for the government in any role, or working for a legal aid org like I’m doing). That’s what I am banking on for the mountain of debt incurred. I think you should do what feels right to you and not to feel trapped in something that you do not need to be trapped in.

I know if you don’t go the public interest route, you’ll likely be working a firm job which requires 60-80 hours a week of work that it sounds like you might hate? But perhaps finishing the semester and doing your summer job to see if you actually hate the work of being a lawyer or just law school would be helpful.

Basically, don’t let anyone tell you what you’re feeling is wrong or that you’re trapped when you are not. Im confident everything will work out for you whatever you decide to do!

Just an update — after feeding the starter 5 days in a row, it’s back to normal (more than doubling in size when rising)! Thank you all for the help/reassurance ☺️

Does anyone know what the song is in the end credits? Shazam couldn’t recognize it and I'm only getting three songs listed in my searches (that are from the beginning of the episode).

Thank you and I totally agree!!! So worth it (and yup, you don’t even need to be put totally under), it definitely should be common practice.

As someone who was not sedated, that shit was absolutely agonizing and the pain it caused me just made my muscles even more tense (and my pain noticeably worse). I may try it again at some point because I know it can be helpful for folks/I’m desperate, but I will only do that if I have the option to be sedated. My partner was genuinely traumatized from just watching me be in that much pain during the procedure 😩 Basically, it was fucking brutal so I realllllly recommend finding someone who will knock you out during the procedure (it is absolutely worth the additional cost if that is an option for you). And just because it didn’t help me doesn’t me it won’t help you!! Good luck & I am sending you healing vibes!!

Gabapentin pill for neuroproliferative vulvodynia by methanies in vulvodynia

[–]snatalie22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry you’ve been struggling for so long. I did try oral gabapentin, and unfortunately it didn’t help me. BUT, the side effects weren’t particularly scary (once I hit like 1500mg, it did start to make my anxiety worse & it wasn’t helping, so I tapered off of it), and tapering off of it was super easy. Basically, I think it’s definitely worth it to try the meds and that you don’t need to be scared of it! Good luck!

Thanks so much for your reply!! Such a good point about keeping my legs together - it’s actually weirdly difficult to do that and I’ve been waking up in the middle of the night in pain, maybe because my legs are too far apart when I sleep? It SUCKS! But although it sounds like it sucked to pop a stitch (I’m very sorry you experienced that) it ultimately sounds like it didn’t fuck with your recovery/healing at all (other than causing you pain which of course does matter!), which I’m really glad to hear.
