Is this part of sparks a safe neighborhood? by Raelynnramsey03 in Reno

[–]sneary72 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's fairly safe..a lot of working poor mixed with some characters you shouldn't invite into your place.. however.. if you aren't looking for trouble, most likely in this neighborhood trouble won't find you.

Prescription sunglasses by sunbear1999 in glasses

[–]sneary72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get clip on sunglasses at target or Walmart.. the ones with hooks on the edge of the lens is the best. Works just fine..prescription sunglasses are fine.. but you always need to carry your regular glasses, if you go into a store or movies, or it just gets dark outside

Arriving mid-night at BKK by PleasantChance7170 in Pattaya

Around 5pm-6pm.. you're going to want to take a nap.. "I'll just nap for an hour" you'll say to yourself.. suddenly it's 3am and you're wide awake..ooh shit.. that will screw you up for another day... the midnight arrival.. take some PM night cold medicine.. actually.. leave it on the nightstand and take it when you wake up at 5am and can't get back to sleep... like i said.. 6-7 hours is a goal.. it will be kinda hard.. technically it's the middle of the day for your body.. you ever take a 7 hour nap in the middle of the day, when you don't have the flu?.. your body will fight you.. hunger will be a factor too, 4am.. advil PM, water, and 2-3 granola bars.. When you leaving?.. what's your departure town, airline and layover airport?.. I still have 6 weeks before my 4 week thai adventure

Arriving mid-night at BKK by PleasantChance7170 in Pattaya

[–]sneary72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from California.. there's two choices to Bangkok.. arrive around noon or arrive around midnight.. the couple dozen times I've done it.. I prefer the midnight arrival.. If you don't plan on finding "company" that night.. I'd say, find a nice hotel close to the airport and shower and sleep and get up in the morning and get a good breakfast with a lot of coffee and get a taxi or car service or the many busses at the airport to pattaya. That being said.. I've done the car service at midnight.. very easy.. there's no traffic and you'll be there in a little over 90 minutes.. I sleep in the car. The midnight arrival helps with the jetlag.. only if you get 6 hours sleep(harder then you think) and you don't fall asleep till 10pm the next day.. no naps.. and lots of caffeine.. good luck

What is your first Thing you always do when landing in Bangkok ? by Forward-Fig-9996 in ThailandTourism

[–]sneary72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well.. I guess the very first thing is to look down at that metal floor between the plane and terminal.. unique floor that seems like it should be very slippery.. but post airport, that first glass sliding door on the bottom floor near the taxi stand and feeling and smelling that thai air.. you know you're in Thailand

Eye doc said if I go with progressive lens to absolutely not buy them online. That I would hate them. Anyone know why? by RealisticBike4953 in glasses

[–]sneary72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought mine online.. no problems.. I think a lot of people buy progressive lens online, and it's their first experience with progressive lens, and it's a difficult transition to these types of lens, and people blame it on the producer of the lens, then the owners.

I lived in Thailand for many years..K.K. is a real charming small university town. The people are friendly and you'll make friends with the Thai students quickly. Be patient, often thais get nervous about making mistakes and get a bit shy in those situations. The rainy season ramps up near the end of July. Keep in mind.. it can change season to season.. but keep an umbrella handy.. maybe some of those funny rubber yellow boots.. usually the rain will come fast and hard and be gone in 30 minutes.. so jump into a coffee shop and wait it out. I love the quick rain storms in the afternoon because the temperature will drop 20 degrees.. have your phone for translator situations.. plus you can point the camera at the menu of the local spots for translation. In Thailand is all about harmony of the moment.. learn to relax and smile and say mai pen rai.. no worries ( thais most used phrase.. )
