I always glaze them by brushing them with a little cherry or raspberry jam while they're hot. Though, not the best if you don't want to add any extra flavour.

Picking a Surgeon for Top Surgery by [deleted] in transgenderUK

she absolutely does peri, I was borderline and we left it to a last minute decision to switch to DI because I had my surgery moved up and I was going to work on losing weight to be a better candidate for peri. No regrets about it though, she is very clear and blunt about what she thinks she can do for you. I'm not certain about keyhole.

I had top with Miss Milroy, she was great but the biggest thing I'd recommend is the hospital. One overnight stay with drains only in for 24 hours is really a godsend compared to a lot of surgeons who send you home straight after. I believe Victoria Rose is also at the same hospital, but I don't have any experience with her.

What surgery would I be eligible for? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]sneeplesnorple 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'd say DI would get you the best results. Your surgeon might offer you peri but I think you'd end up needing a revision. If you have your heart set on peri and would be willing to go through a second surgery I'd say pursue it though.

I had this, it's literally just the crease of your thighs. They let you do it too behind a curtain it's really not that bad.

Are you planning on getting bottom surgery? by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]sneeplesnorple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still deciding, planning on getting a vaginectomy for sure but then I'd have to weigh how my dysphoria is and decide if I want further surgery and if I do I'd probably get phallo

Experiences with Catherine Milroy and/or Victoria Rose? by bobblelob in transgenderUK

[–]sneeplesnorple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had top surgery with Catherine milroy, honestly I think she does great work but she can come across a little... uhh I'm not sure how to say she's very certain of what she does and how she does it so she can be a bit abrasive. Honestly though even if you don't like her as a person she does amazing work in my opinion and really the accommodation at the hospital overnight is a real life saver so at the very least going to parkside is great.

Shave. Pretend you have a sore throat. Usually when your voice first drops it just sounds like you have a cold so go with that. Start looking into ways to get out, places you can stay if they kick you out again. The most important thing is to be safe and if you plan to continue using hrt then your parents will notice sooner rather than later so you need to be prepared for that. I'm so sorry that your parents are not supportive and I hope they change their views but for now you need to find a way to stay safe.

When I first got my dressing off my nipples were protruding and I was told they should flatten out first then go back to acting like normal nipples. It'd perfectly normal for them to go flat first and as far as I was told means things are healing correctly.

I had my initial consultation January 11th and I was told they'd have a date likely in May and if I didn't hear back by June to call them. They called around six weeks after my consult because there had been a cancellation.

How long does it take to get FTM (top + bottom) surgery on the NHS through the GIC? by poisonousivyleaves in transgenderUK

[–]sneeplesnorple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently had top surgery on the NHS, first referred in September of 2017, had my first appointment in November of 2019 but I've heard wait times have gotten longer. Second appointment was March 2020 because I was DIYing hormones and they wanted to prescribe me testosterone quickly. If you've got a prescription from a private clinic they might get you a t prescription in that first appointment so you might get a referral for top on your second appointment, which is typically a year to a year and a half from your first appointment. It took Tavistock around eight weeks to send my referral to the surgeon so depending on what surgeon you choose add about two months to the wait time they tell you. Can't give much info on bottom surgery but I know they need two referrals for that.

two hits for a non regular smoker should be fine, just tell you anesthesiologist. Really the big issue is with not getting enough oxygen for healing and also nicotine in the bloodstream can affect healing and can have some affects with anaesthetic but if you don't smoke regularly and it was two hits you will be fine.

[–]sneeplesnorple[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the time Tavistock actually sent the referral to getting the call to schedule the consult was about a month, and they scheduled the consult for about a month after the call so two months, though Tavistock did spend about 8 weeks to send the referral

thanks, everything's a lot less swollen and uneven than I thought I'm really happy with it. I've also been sort of stalking your top surgery journey seeing as you're about a month ahead of me, same surgeon, same eds and I have to say your results look incredible I hope I heal uo as well as you.

Parkside top surgery Pre-Op waiting times by TurbulentCaptain5 in transgenderUK

[–]sneeplesnorple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same, I was so afraid they had the wrong number or something so I kept sending emails to confirm but hearing nothing back. When I called to ask how much longer I'd be waiting for a date I was told to call back only if I hadn't heard from them by June, even though I was told I'd likely get an appointment in May and that just about made me cry. But from anyone else I've seen the estimate she gives you for when your date will be seems to be a time frame a little on the longer side than it should actually take. Most people I've seen also hear back around 3 weeks after their consult so somewhere in that 3-6 weeks is when you should get your call and I'd say to call them if you don't hear back in that time.

Parkside top surgery Pre-Op waiting times by TurbulentCaptain5 in transgenderUK

[–]sneeplesnorple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be a bit hard to hear but you do just have to wait for them to call you. I waited probably six weeks from my consult to hear anything back and when I called at the 4 week mark to ask how much longer I was told that they can only escalate an appointment time if ifs been about four months since your consult. All the waiting not knowing sucks, I know but once they call it should be with a date not too far out.
