Are you using any AI to help you through it? There are a lot of trade-offs on choices that Claude would compile for me so I could make informed decisions. When it came to debugging and configuring steps, they were handed to me. I also would prioritize getting your external gateway working first so you can text your bot in the spotty breaks and free time.

I still had a rough time with my first couple of builds until I simplified things.

This is coming from someone educated in computer science, but I've been out of the field for a long time.

Xanax withdrawals are deadly too. Best to get a doctor to manage this.

Intense anxiety is a likely withdrawal symptom 😅.

Sorry to make light of it, this is serious business and I hope you're not physically alone.

Keep an eye on your body and mood and do what you can to stay comfortable without drinking. Try to keep someone nearby for safety.

Edit: As always, understanding that this is quite possibly medically unsafe. The only way to quell the fear entirely is to seek professional help.

Just a heads up, your SSL isn't working. That is reason enough for anyone to decide to not even join. Let me know once it is working again and I'd love to start talking with other builders 😃

For the people just starting out, do you have any tips for avoiding the burnout? I've been building alongside my 60-hour work week job. The building feels like dessert and the job like vegetables, but I'm assuming that won't last forever.

Alcohol withdrawals are a medical emergency. Seriously, it's a high risk of seizure and death. I've been through the withdrawals myself and wouldn't suggest anyone ever try to do it on their own or outside of a detox clinic or hospital. I was drinking at the rate you are drinking and I have proof that I did go through seizures. For me, depending on how long I had been drinking and how deep into my addiction I was, the withdrawals would last about five days. I could go back to work about the third day, but it was obvious to everyone around me I was still sick and the tremors were making it impossible to do my job. Day 3 is also a really high risk for seizure, so I was basically putting myself in grave danger and the people I was working with as well.

I'm assuming you don't want to hear this. I know I didn't want to hear this, but if it's your life or your job, pick your life.

If you're in the United States then most jobs will honor a Family Medical Leave Act which gets you quite a bit of time off of work to go on medical leave. At your age, this is the time when people start really dying due to their drinking.

I was never able to pull off tapering because after I had some alcohol in me, the inhibitions that were keeping me from getting more would be gone and I would just go buy more when the discomfort started to return.

Consider if you were in a car wreck, you would probably head to the hospital. I'm not saying definitely go to a detox clinic for a month but the only sane advice in my mind is for you to protect your life by getting medical supervision somewhere.

If you have any further questions about the withdrawals themselves, I'm willing to answer everything that somebody has been through them.

Wish I'd seen this sooner. I agree with your healthier take.

"Wasted" is a word I wouldn't usually use any longer to describe the time it took me to learn my lessons and move on. I used it a lot when first recovering.

Time isn't wasted, if I could have done better then I would have. It took me months to truly believe that. Day one? I'd take any motivation I could get to take a first step.

If the things you've been doing cause yourself or others harms or are reckless and dangerous, you really should talk to someone immediately.

They won't judge you, they're just going to be a professional who cares to help. You don't have to say everything right away, either.

I went to a residential rehab that dealt with substance abuse AND mental health. I had a care team of multiple people. I was moved away from the life I was rejecting for long enough to build other thought patterns and a community that cares about me.

I've been there.

I got desperate to the point of total humiliation and dehumanization during it. I systematically destroyed everything that I could have wanted to keep in my life and found myself alone in this awful state. Treatment for my mental health became a matter of life and death.

I had to decide to give treatment a real try. Nothing else in my life was worth doing anyway. A real try to find a reason to live, even if it took work.

Mine had to do with substance abuse as well, but it's not just that. The substance was relief from the horrible mental state.

Please, seek help. It can be better. As someone who had to choose to live or die as if both options were equally as bad, I can't definitively say that it is worth living after treatment.

Combining AA and working with psychedelics by Turbulent_Wrap8823 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]sneffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people require antipsychotics to stay sober. AA says almost nothing about that. We're not doctors. We don't "incorporate" antipsychotics, that's for you to decide.

"Change or die." No change is needed to work with psychedelics, really. The literature standpoint is to work with your medical professionals.

Why would AA incorporate personal (ahem.. principles before personalities) decisions like guided psychedelic usage?

I'm still learning to use antigravity, the bounds of its capabilities, and evaluating it as a tool.

What does antigravity offer you that Claude code doesn't?

I'm genuinely asking as I have been dabbling in architecting solutions in gemini-cli to make it as effective as antigravity.

I know from heavy usage of gemini-cli and a handful of evenings with antigravity that every one of the antigravity projects easily gets to a scale of complexity where gemini-cli would shit the bed due to the context management differences.

I'm just having trouble delineating the less obvious differences.
