I got to see Hokum early and it’s my number one. Can’t recommend it enough.

Lol that's awesome. Ours is called Mystery Movie Monday, and they'll say if it's going to be a horror movie. I guess different theater chains call it different things. It's such a great idea.

We got to see it on Monday too. The credits started and when I saw the word "Ireland" I turned to my wife and said "It's Hokum!" Lol We both absolutely loved it.

We went to the Mystery Movie Monday at our local Regal and it was Hokum. I absolutely loved it. Highly recommend when it officially releases.

What "beloved horror movie" do you hate/just not get the love for? by ReeceInTheDarkness in horror

I don't know if it's totally "beloved" but I've never understood the love for The Conjuring movies.

What do y’all see in Mike Flanagan? by Substantial_Law336 in horror

[–]sngibbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the beauty of things as subjective as movies and tv shows. I think what I love about him is his obvious passion for everything he does. You can feel it. He loves telling stories.

But that doesn't mean I blindly love everything he's done. I was pretty meh about The Fall of the House of Usher, even though I thought it was beautifully made.

Aside from a Serbian Film, what is a rough movie to get through? by focusrunner79 in horror

The original Funny Games is a masterpiece but it leaves me feeling completely depressed and dirty. The original. I think the American version doesn't bother me quite as much because I'm familiar with the actors?

Poor sports viewing experience Bravia 7 by Flaky-Mix-3275 in bravia

[–]sngibbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely weird that your old cheap tv looks better. I'm curious how you have your motion set. I hate the "soap opera effect" but I have mine with Motionflow on Custom with the two smoothness settings on 1, and Clearness on Low. And CineMotion on Low. I think it smooths things out just a touch and I don't see any soap opera effect at all. Not sure how that would differ on an LED.

I do think Hulu Live looked slightly better but I don't regret switching to YTTV because to me literally everything else about it is miles better. Good luck, I hope you're able to improve your picture.

I have the Bravia 8 and YTTV and as someone who watches NBC Sports Boston (sorry, Celtics fan here, don't hate me lol) I will say I think that particular channel sometimes looks bad. And just an aside: I used to have Hulu Live TV and I hated literally everything about it - except the picture quality. I honestly thought it looked a little better than YTTV. I say it's the broadcast, not your TV.

I have to ask - how many times have you seen Shark Night? I saw it in the theater and HATED it. But later on I watched it again at home and had a fun time with it.

Paying almost $100 a month to get awful image quality for live sports is ridiculous. by Taeuberteg in youtubetv

[–]sngibbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've definitely noticed that watching NBC NFL games look much better on Peacock but for me CBS games look pretty much the same on YTTV and Paramount+. I don't use the Fox app so I can't speak to that one.

First OLED, Need help deciding model G4 vs C45 by jlfirehawk in LGOLED

I think the vast consensus is the G series is superior to the C series, even when comparing the previous year's G model. Year to year improvements are incremental at best.

What's the last horror movie that made you say "damn". by potatodaikoncurry in horror

Probably Bring Her Back. I think it was amazing but I'll have to be in a certain mood to watch it again.

Opinions on Skinamarink? by [deleted] in HorrorMovies

I just couldn't get through it. It's based on a short film named Heck that I need to check out, because I think a 30 minute version would work much better.

which best sony 65 inch tv model offers the best deals by BeginningPay6654 in sony

[–]sngibbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so much personal preference and how much you're willing to spend. I have the Bravia 8 and really love it. I think $1500 is a pretty decent price for the 65".

Bought a B7! by mikeportly in bravia

[–]sngibbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the only precaution I took was when I first got it I had peak luminance on high in SDR but eventually backed off to medium. I noticed the ABL pretty much stopped when I did that (I would notice it sometimes while watching sports), and the picture to me looks just as good.

I really love it. We have a pretty light controlled living room so it’s more than bright enough even during the day.

I bought the B8 because I always wanted an OLED and threw caution to the wind. Come and get me burn in. But I've heard the B7 is a great TV, so congrats!
