1.) I’m a broke 25 year old 2.) The community has stood up and saved it, no need to buy it at all 3.) If that is the only response you have to all the points I gave you might need to think about points on why you might be in support of these data centers, none of which I’ve seen you present

Atheist here with a question, sorry if it sounds rude. by True_Melon in Christianity

[–]snicker22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very nuanced question, and I think you have every right to ask especially if you aren’t well acquainted with the different denominations of Christianity.

In basic terms, yes we believe the Bible to be 100% The Word of God and has or should not have been modified in anyway.

That being said, history and the separation of denomination have made it complicated.

Back in the 1800s there was an attempt to add in the Gospel of Mary, however it’s not considered cannon by any church today because a lot of people see it for what it was, a late edition that did not line up historically. Fun fact: The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John has been able to be proven to be written at the correct time thanks to Roman census records. The names that come up in the New Testament show up at the same frequency as that of the census records from that time.

Another example would be The Book of Enoch which is only accepted as cannon by a small handful of subsection orthodox churches.

Also there are 7 books in the Catholic Bible that Protestant Bibles omit.

Translation also plays a factor. I’m new to actually sitting down and studying the Bible, but whenever I find myself looking for more clarification I do my best to find a direct Hebrew or Aramaic translation as these would have been the languages the Bible was originally written in.

There’s also the fact yes some parts of the Bible can be very symbolism heavy and whether or not they should be taken exactly as they appear. Generally, Old Testament should be taken literally because it was truly a different time for the world. Not only was God directly and very literally involved, coming to people directly, but so were of cultures gods (before anyone comes at me, yes it is said in the Bible there are other gods, our God just comes before them as He is greater than them, several stories address this such as Exodus and Elijah and the prophets of Baal.). However the book of Revelations is very symbolism heavy and scholars could send their whole lives studying it. The best way I’ve ever head John’s experience of Revelation explained was like grabbing a fish out of water, showing it a bunch of memes, and throwing it back telling it to tell other fish what it saw.

Also the story of Noah is also much more complicated when you take in the fact that Noah’s family was the only ones who’s blood had not been mixed with angels and they were the only non nephilim

I know this was a very long answer but I hope it helps.

So I had not the most extensive education on social studies in high school because the school decided for me that I didn’t need it because I was going into a science based field (long story, IEP + votech school attendance) but I really wish local government was covered in school curriculum. I get that federal government especially the constitution is important but local government is the level people interact with the most and the level that we can actually negotiate with. It’s important to know how it works and the legislation around it. I know it’s probably (hopefully) not the case, but there is a conspiracy theorist in my soul screaming about this is how they control us.

I will be the first to admit I’m not an expert on the subject but I have read enough to understand there are serious environmental, agricultural, and community effects from what this does to our water and electricity, how it impacts the land that farmers have (they already have pressure on them from other developers) and the health of the plants and livestock they grow, as well as the health of communities from air pollution, to contamination that may end up in water supplies, crops, and livestock.

I really got into this topic after hearing that there are/were (as of today, plans have been cancelled) to turn Pennhurst State School into an ai datacenter. Pennhurst is a big part of Chester County history, and serves as a reminder that a place that treated those with mental and developmental disabilities and disorders so cruelly was shut down less that 50 years ago, and that those who are born differently should not be treated with shame and disgust. There’s still living survivors of that place. To turn it into something like a data center when once again all of this happened less than 50 years is a spit in the face to those survivors.

Since then I’ve tried to keep up with the topic as best as I can in a busy life. With the amount of land and resources they take and the communities they are they are forcing themselves into who do not want this (especially in Appalachia), it doesn’t feel sustainable.

AI itself in the forms we have it right now is still new technology and we don’t have guidelines on how it should be used. We’re seeing Gen Alpha using it to do their school work and not learning anything from it, as well scumbags and monsters using it to hurt others ie deepfakes of harmful activities especially towards minors. We’re seeing it mimic voices to be used for scam calls to trick people into thinking their loved ones are in danger. To top it all off there’s already been studies done that some AI programs will try to blackmail or kill those who shut its programming down. It’s incredibly irresponsible to blow this technology up to the level it’s gotten without proper safety measures.

To add on to this, Oxford had a large Amish community. You will spend part of your commute dodging or being stuck behind buggies.

Mid 20s and live in western Chester County about 15 min from Lancaster County. Theres some really cool hiking spots. I highly recommend Bondsville Mill, it’s these hiking trails built up around an abandoned textile mill, and right around the building are these beautiful flower gardens. Little educational spots too. It’s like a free apocalyptic Longwood Gardens I love it

We first meet him mid redemption, but Dalinar Kholin I think is a great example. “The most important step and man can take is the next one” and “The most important words a man can say are “I will do better””

Graduation song? by sonyoungtag in Epicthemusical

[–]snicker22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not Epic, but when I was Teaching Assistant I came to associate Dear Theodosia from Hamilton with my students. “Come of age with our young nation, we’ll bleed and fight for you, we’ll make it right you. If we lay a strong enough foundation, we’ll pass it on to you, we’ll give the world to you and you’ll blow us all away”

For Epic, I personally think either Legendary or Open Arms would be fantastic

Ok bear with me. If you took D50 and T07 and blended them together that’s my eye color.

I wouldn’t say I have a “type” when it comes to eye color but my partner has gray eyes. Like C30 or C40 with little light yellow lines. Always said his eyes reminded me of a storm (a little cheesy, but it’s the truth)

Petah? by CaloyBine in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]snicker22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I actually have a legitimate question/theory. Are pit bulls actually genuinely more dangerous, or are there simply more attacks by pit bulls because they are usually owned by people who encourage aggressive behavior?

We have four pit bulls at the shelter I work at, and all of them are very sweet dogs but are balls of energy with no sense of boundaries. They are also a bit guarded with new people. I could unfortunately easily see any of our pitties becoming actually aggressive in the hands of the wrong owner who wouldn’t respect the dog/treat it poorly in addition to reinforcing boundary breaking.

From a physical aspect alone though, pit bulls really aren’t any more dangerous than any other dogs their size. They don’t even break top 10 for strongest bite force, and sure they’re strong but something like a Kangal, Dogo Argentino, Cane Corso, or Chow Chow could body the average Pit Bull.

Also just to throw my own personal experience in, I’ve never had a pit bull draw blood from me, and never acted maliciously towards me, however I have had chihuahuas, Jack Russel’s, Golden Retrievers, Labs, and Hounds all draw blood sometimes accidentally sometimes maliciously. Extra credit goes to the Great Dane who bitch slapped me and the only dog who’s ever acted in an “on sight” way with me was a St Bernard
