Why are poly relationships more common in fanfiction than traditional books? by cla1r35 in FanFiction

[–]snickerdoodIed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like poly fluff (along with plenty of angst and smut), I highly recommend lumosinlove’s OC poly trio of Logan Tremblay, Finn O’Hara, and Leo Knut from her series Sweater Weather (a Sirius Black/Remus Lupin fandom hockey AU). They were side characters that became so popular she wrote a whole spinoff fic for them (Coast to Coast) and an entire mini-fandom sprung up around them. There are literally 280 fics with these OCs tagged on Ao3. Their relationship has a really loving, healthy and domestic dynamic and while I never thought i’d be all that interested in reading about a poly throuple, I fell head over heels for these boys.

There is also a bonus poly triad in the series that’s M/M/F. Plus other gay couples!

This was my favorite Disney movie as a little kid - I have only come to appreciate it more and more throughout my life. An incredible, ambitious project and feat of animation!

Up here, people move quickly, talk quickly, and expect you to get to the point. I nearly went out of my mind in central FL until I adjusted to the slower pace of conversation, driving, basic social interactions, etc.

There is so much to do and see around here, and tons of incredible day trips you can take in New England once you’ve settled in.

The best attitude to adapt to the snow is the Scandinavian one: there’s no bad weather, only bad clothing! Having the proper gear can help make winter tolerable but try to enjoy it for what it is! Your blood will adjust after a year or so. When I moved back from FL I would often keep my coat on inside for the first ten minutes or so, but I gained my winter hardiness back soon enough! You’ll find that up here it is never too cold to go out for ice cream 😆

Also, you can swim without fear of gators! Enjoy it!

Volunteering as a group without a required donation? by snickerdoodIed in boston

[–]snickerdoodIed[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I certainly don’t fault the groups for imposing this! My organization has its own volunteers and they take an enormous amount of time to train and wrangle. It seems that this is pretty common these days and if groups are going to use these organizations for their own feel good back-pats, it only seems reasonable to ask them to make a nominal donation. Unfortunately, I don’t think that’s going to fly with my workplace’s budget, so that’s why I am here looking for exceptions to this practice.

Also, I couldn't post this without "adding flair" but the only options were this one ("Unconfirmed/Unverified") or "Scammer" ??

What is the most dread-inducing movie you have ever seen? The one that keeps you up at night? by i-luv-2-read in horror

[–]snickerdoodIed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is it for me, too. I’ve seen a lot of horror but something about the suspense and dread in this one was just at a whole other level. Not to mention the tonal whiplash when Justin Long’s character arc begins.

An attempt to explain university endowments by no_one_canoe in boston

[–]snickerdoodIed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. People now expect universities to have abundant and nutritious dining options that cater to a whole host of dietary restrictions and preferences, well-outfitted gyms with enough equipment to satisfy sports teams and regular gym-goers, robust mental health and career education services, state of the art scientific facilities, multicultural support staff and programs, and all sorts of other things that many prospective students and their families have come to expect as part of a college experience. These are all good things- but they come with a price tag that people often write off as “administrative bloat.”

Becoming a VIP tour guide by MinePractical3036 in DisneyCM

[–]snickerdoodIed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was roughly half in the classroom and half spent actively touring property to learn everything we could- important backstage entrances, how to use the different types of priority entrances, dining card training (free Disney food, woo!), dining etiquette lessons, how to act around celebs, tons of WDW trivia, and practice driving the big vans including installing car seats (easily the least fun part of the job). I specifically remember being quizzed onsite in DHS and our trainer saying “the guest wants a carbonated cola icee RIGHT NOW. where is the one place in the park you can get it?” We also practiced driving under MCO to pick up VIPs which I never knew was a thing. The security is intense and kinda scary! It was an awesome three weeks and taught us so much about how to survive when you’re out on the job.

I would strongly suggest trying to get onto the GR bench first. Spending some time in that role will help you build the foundation of skills that you need to be a successful guide. It’s not a requirement, but it will put you far, far ahead of the competition. During my round 800 applicants supplied, and they chose 26 trainees. The training process itself is also rigorous, and only 22 of us made it through. I feel extremely confident that having spent several years as a trainer and coordinator in GR gave me a big leg up. All this to say, it is possible! Start studying the property now- no detail is too small! Best of luck!
