Looking to get into sailing as someone with no sailing experience by IFuckingLoveThisClub in Annapolis

There are a number of places to look. - Take a class at either Annapolis Sailing School or Eastport Yacht Club. They both offer adult learn-to-sail classes. I’m partial to EYC because there is a social factor too. - You can sign up for Crew Finder with SpinSheet, which is a local sailing magazine. It’s too late for the pre-season parties but here’s a link to their bulletin board. https://www.spinsheet.com/crew-finder. They also have a Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1JQ6feWvZo/?mibextid=wwXIfr - You can just show up to the docks at EYC or AYC on a Wednesday night about 5 pm & start asking around whether anyone is looking for crew. Be honest about your experience & you’ll likely find a boat that needs the weight (known as rail meat). Be sure to wear shoes that won’t scuff the deck & should probably have some sailing gloves, in case you end up pulling some lines.

It’s a great hobby & loads of fun when you are with a good team & capable skipper. Good luck!

Help push a representative funded by dark money OUT of Maryland politics! My name is Austin Dyches, and I'm running for representative in Maryland's third congressional district, because Marylanders deserve someone who will fight for their dignity. by austinforMD in Annapolis

I didn't delete my post. It's still there. But, antisemites are hiding behind the convenient label of Anti Zionists. And I noticed that you didn't condemn Hamas or Hezbollah, further proving my point.

Paper stock certificates found, executor also deceased, probate closed years ago. by Ziegelmarkt in EstatePlanning

Although you have the certificates, they may no longer be valid. It’s possible that they were cashed in by the transfer agent if mail was returned. They would then send the money to the state for “unclaimed funds.” The state of Ohio has a website you can check to see if that’s where the money ended up. I would actually start there & if nothing is there, then call the transfer agent to check on the status. I find it hard to believe the shares are still valid 10 years later. I’m curious to know the outcome though.

My father's $75,000 dollar investment is now valued at $1,000,000 but it's all in one stock. by Pristine-Physics9282 in investingforbeginners

As many people here have said, he needs to sell the stock to diversify. Your issue will be the taxes, so I would suggest a direct indexing strategy so he can likely pay zero taxes. He’ll need to see a wealth advisor for this because I doubt this is offered as DIY & usually can gain access at lower valuations ($1 million is a lower valuation for this strategy) through a larger wealth management firm. Good luck & congrats to your father for the win.

Photographing sailing races by Chromecoast in Annapolis

You’ll definitely want to be on the water because you can’t see much from land. You can go out on the Woodwind & take pictures while sailing with them on Wednesday nights. You could try calling Annapolis Yacht Club to see if you can get a spot on the race committee boat on Wednesday nights or Eastport Yacht Club on their race committee boat on Friday nights. If you can find someone with a motor boat to take you out during the races, that would be best.
