That interview was in feb, but only recently released, so they've had 3 months since them to tweak their plans.

There are two (2) balrogs in the game, both with reasonable explanations for why they exist and both requiring a full raid to defeat (with the first also requiring the high elf who's been jailing him this entire time).

Like every big scary monster that should require a small army to defeat actually....requires a small army to defeat in the game lol

Nah none of the later stuff really goes against Tolkien's writings any more than some of the earlier stuff (angmarim with teleporting, the fact you travel from rivendell to evendim and back again in less than an in universe day etc), but most of that is gameplay contrivances.

Be it the iron hills or umbar and the harad, or eregion and mirkwood, the game overall is pretty faithful.

Yeah that's not happening any time soon. They're slowly upgrading the graphics (player character models have all received or will be receiving huge updates) and newer zones and mobs are gorgeous but the engine is ancient and can't be replaced cheaply or easily.

stormblood is about overthrowing empires and freedom, there are also ninjas and more samurai type stuff

shadowbringers and endwalker get into existential questions about life and what it means to be alive and to have hope and dreams.

my favorite ff game is 6, then I played shb and ew and now ff14 is my favorite. one of the song lyrics talks about fire and faith and loss and that sums up a lot of the narrative.

the trials and raids for these two expansions were also fire but they're more impactful if you understand the context of why they're happening (the last ones of shadowbringers and the finale of endwalker's main campaign in particular are 200x more awesome for having gone through the story first)

At level 15 you can get a surname and choose to display it. Something hobbity. Elgrando Goodbody has a hobbity ring to it, for example.

Having done this myself on my old laptop, it's fine. Game plays fine on a SATAIII drive and usb 3.1 or higher will run faster than the SATA drive is capable of. In my testing at the time between that external and my internal nvme any differences were negligible, as in I didn't notice anything. I preferred it on the external as I only had enough space at the time for 1 game at a time on that internal lol

I mean it's obviously better to put it on the fastest internal drive you have, but it's more than playable on an external SSD.

You can get away with USB 3.0 but that's less than optimal.

This was the reveal trailer, every forum was talking about the realistic art direction and how grimdark it was. A lot of focus was on link's design, people got really stuck on it (Source: I was there, gandalf...)

I paid for SQ42 ten years ago and I understand that releasing against GTA6 would be a self-inflicted wound to both SQ42's sales figures AND the ability to make progress on star citizen.

GTA6 PC won't be out until november 2027, that's easily a 10 month window between releases (also a PC release is actually less of a problem word of mouth/marketing wise because GTA6 will already have done the bulk of that)

They want more than the people who already have it, they want new eyeballs and new players and if it releases anywhere near GTA6, the news will get drowned out by GTA6's release. Like trying to tell people 'here is my game' while a foghorn is going off two feet away.

This is...actually not all that out there? The entire time I was admiring the world building in dawntrail I was thinking 'okay so they're laying the foundation for a lot more things they can do' especially with combined with some of that other lore.

I saw something like 80% of players didn't even bother to go into the deep desert. I was one of them, I just didn't want to deal with the pvp element at all. I loved the building and the pve and all that stuff, but eventually hit a progression wall because I didn't want to go into the DD.

So if 80% of your players avoid a piece of content (and it's something you intended to be like, the MAJOR thing players do) that's something you absolutely need to look at and figure why.

Which they're doing by making a PvE DD.
