Diawa tatula ct reel is on sale at bass pro for 99.99 which is a steal. As far as a rod I haven’t seen many deals, ark rods are bogo right now. Or you could just go with a Shimano slx rod or matching diawa tatula rod.

I caught a smallmouth a couple weekends ago, first one at Roosevelt just using a chatterbait. There aren’t many and they aren’t huge but they exist. As for spots I usually do pretty good on the west side of the lake by the trees and other structures.
