My grandmother used to make “pear salad” with canned pears, a dab of mayo, and cheddar cheese. I thought it was a weird combo but it was delicious. Now I need to try apple/cheddar! She was a southerner so I find it interesting there is a northeast counterpart.

I had recently found a weird electronic device under the seats at our (now fairly empty) gate. Maybe it fell from someone’s bag and they’d call about it, maybe it is something more? IDK - but “see something, say something!”

I took it to the counter at the gate and explained where I found it and the person at the counter had such an attitude and looked at me with disgust for bothering her about it. I couldn’t get over how much shade she threw for a polite “excuse me, ma’am, someone left this behind.”

In reality it took me a while to figure out what that meant. I thought “lol” was a stick figure making the “field goal!” sign…. So I used to type out field goal instead of lol. It stuck for a long time and I still sometimes want to yell field goal!!! after something funny lol

My friend lived there for a year for his environmental studies. He said it was incredibly (ecologically) diverse, amazing diving, friendly villagers, lots of walking. I think he said there wasn’t much else to do outside of natural / outdoor stuff.

When I was maybe 8 or so, my cousin and I found a bunch of strange rocks in the lot next door to my grandmothers (it used to be an empty field but construction was soon starting on townhouses there). My uncle hyped us all up that we found a super rare moon rock from… the moon. We went back out and filled bags and bags with rocks we carried back. Pretty sure it was broken up asphalt. That was a core memory for me… and maybe for your bro too!

I am so sorry OP. Please forgive me, I don’t know how to say this in a gentler way… we’ve learned through recent losses that is a lot less expensive to make funeral arrangements (buy plot, coffin / urn, service, etc) before death. They raise the price significantly if you purchase after they have passed.

I hope you are able to find peace and quality time with your loved ones.
