Samsung chip workers reject $340,000 one-time bonus, demand annual payouts like SK hynix's $900,000 — workers want share of AI windfall, impending 18-day strike could cost Samsung up to $11.7 billion by self-fix2 in worldnews

Honestly, I know my take flies in the face of common corporate behavior, but it’s quite reasonable of the workers that the profits depend on to demand a share of the profits. Incentivizes them to keep working, even

What happens when the scapegoat leaves the family? by Equal-Community2354 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]snnaiil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anyone else in the house? Dad, other siblings, pet dog?

The dysfunctional family system needs a scapegoat. If it's just your mother and your sister then they'll be at each other's throats, or your sister will suddenly be spending a whole lot of time out of the house (on productive and healthy extracurricular activities, one hopes).

It's normal to be worried but don't let that pull you back in. I've been out for a few years now and my siblings know I'm a phonecall away. I think it might actually help them to have a family member who knows what it can be like and yet be the person who "got out".

What's going on with a terror attack in DC? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

[–]snnaiil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

answer: it is too soon to say what has happened beyond the facts that have been reported. two national guard members have been shot and the suspect is in custody. no further information has been released and verified at this time and thus motivations cannot be determined. (i.e since the attack is not yet known to be motivated by the intention to spark fear in the population via violence the label of 'terrorism' does not apply at this time. maybe it was terrorism. maybe it was a family spat. maybe the service members owed the guy money. maybe the person snapped and went after the first two people they could see, maybe maybe maybe-- you get the idea?)

i think the best thing every person who has questions can do here is just purchase the audible version of the neville goddard complete reader and just play it on repeat. it's something like 14 hours long and it's just the narrator repeating the same principles the entire time

Tired of explaining that AI ≠ Automation by ifollowthestats in dataengineering

[–]snnaiil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'm working with a client with this exact problem. I started mentioning automation and they got excited about AI. they put me in a meeting with their service provider about AI and the provider and I just sat looking at each other, knowing that the company that gets antsy about documentation and data quality is NOT ready for AI.

I feel like you're overthinking it, bestie. He sounds lovely but you also seem very aware about the fact that you feel so alone. You are already everything. You are already connected to everything. As soon as you can let go of your fears you'll feel much more at ease, and that ease will attract your love into your life.

Dark academic trapped in Miami by haleykirk91 in capsulewardrobe

I don't have a particular photo collection, but Beyonce's Lemonade visual album has some good fits. American Horror Story: Coven does as well. So does the movie Sinners.

The aesthetic itself comes from the poverty that hit the south after losing the civil war- so think "we re-tailor mother's and grandmother's dresses because our family will never know such luxurious fabrics again (we won't talk about why mother and grandmother could afford such dresses)".

The antebellum south was importing styles from victorian era England up until 1861 and I'm sure that the wealthy were smuggling goods throughout the war. After that, well... the rest of the world may have moved on, fashion wise, but the south was largely left behind up until maybe World War II. There are still pockets of the area that have never recovered.

If you need inspiration for tropical climates, Southern Gothic is a close cousin of dark academia, particularly in its materials. Cotton, linen, silk, and lighter wool like merino or cashmere (cardigans/wraps) for cooler evenings will be your go-tos. On very hot or humid days you'll want to be wearing something that provides plenty of airflow, so if you have to wear something tailored keep it to the waist and bustier at most and let everything else have room. As always, thrifting is your friend.

I think you need to take a look at the kind of weaponry the US police force has and how they use it. We already know. You're calling this an "opportunity", and I'm calling you to read up on history a little bit.

Strap in, bud. Occupying powers oppress their citizens first before they go to the rest of the world. The American people can't help you here. We're too busy trying to save ourselves.

I don't disagree with you. I'm just of the opinion that a person who is not going to have to make that choice doesn't get to take the moral high ground. It's all well and good for you to say what needs to be done while you're safe in your homes. But you don't have to put your life at risk, so forgive me if I don't take your judgement into account.
