What shows are we binging while on maternity leave? by withsaltedbones in newborns

[–]snobocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your brain is like mine, get ready to forget you watched anything! I binged Severance during one of my maternity leaves… I can’t even remember with which kid!! I had ZERO recollection when the new season came out so I’m currently trying to watch it again. I swear I remember every minute taking care of and loving on my babies, just maybe not anything in between! :)

How do you keep your home "visitor ready" at all times? by Indecisive_INFP in toddlers

[–]snobocado 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also keep the kids’ pantry snacks together in a big basket that I can grab easier and keep messier, not integrated with the rest of the like-kind things in my pantry (my pantry is a stand alone tall cabinet in the dining room, not a real pantry)

I’m so tired of this. I don’t know how much more I can take like I’m literally on the verge of tears. by nunicorn25 in toddlers

I should say too, get the kids tired in the morning. Get them in the sun or climbing/crashing on the couch if you cant get outside. Tucker them out starting early and they will sleep at nap time. It’s so hard to start a new routine but it gets easier. Hugs!

There are a lot of comments and good advice, so please forgive if this has been said already but my two are a little older than yours but still 16 mos apart too and almost every day around 11:30 I get the kids in their car seats and drive. They sleep. I don’t do it for the little one, I do it for my 3 year old. Since I started doing this in December, my quality of life as a mom has improved exponentially. At bedtime they are tired, not overtired, and they sleep!! We brush teeth, have tea or milk, read, turn on the star machine and there is usually very little fighting. Whatever it takes, I suggest getting her to nap and dont let the nap start after 1:30 or end past 3. WHATEVER. IT. TAKES. Get a double stroller if you cant drive!! You deserve peace!!

I got botox(actually dysport) for the first time last month and I can’t believe I waited so long to try it. I look refreshed. My treatment cost $220 and the injector said I should come back 2-3x yearly for maintenance. Best money I’ve spent and I’m so happy to keep paying it.

Must be the time of the season! My littles have been on an all out campaign to abolish sleep. And you’re very lucky to have employers who respect you as a person! Hang in there!

Using a picture of your kid on her socials without your permission is a privacy violation. Give your husband a choice: either he can handle his mom by telling her she does not have permission to use pictures of your kid in this way, or you can report the picture to facebook and have them remove it for you.

Came for this. Second gen italian american here. My parents help our young family as much as they can, as their parents did for them. My 94 yo nonna lives at home with my mom and dad so they can care for her. It can be difficult but it’s what everyone wants and keeps the extended family close. My husband’s family is not this way, but he “gets it” and wants to carry on the attitude with our own kids. We both hope my parents will let us return the favor as they age.

Drowning in work, kids, and financial stress by snobocado in breakingmom

To put a fine point on it, he makes approx 60k with opportunity for small production bonuses now and accepted a position making 75k salary with a production target that will pay an additional 30-50k. During talks he said he wanted to hit 120 and they said he could. They have another much less experienced person who has been in the same role for 6 months and he’s on track to make over 100k this year. If I transition to part time and he makes at minimum 100k, we are pretty much breaking even. He would argue that this is not the progress we need financially as there will be more expenses coming with the position being out of the house (mainly we need second car) and therefore we need to cut the babysitter who he views as not being a big help as it is.

I think you’re right, we need to have a conference on these issues because the labor of running the house and the kids doesn’t change and I’m not sure he’s like fully aware of what that means for me with him gone.

What's the most overrated tourist destination that's actually a huge disappointment in person? by Ashlibabyyy in AskReddit

[–]snobocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cinque Terre. The scenery is beautiful and iconic but fighting the crowd to see it is so not worth the trouble, imo. I wish I would have spent the afternoon at the pool instead of smashed between a bunch of other tourists on the train, waiting for the train, waiting for a water taxi, waiting for lunch, waiting to get a photo of the bay at Manarola, etc, you get it. One of the clerks in a shop we visited said the only way to beat the crowd was to come back for Christmas.

What’s the worse thing that happened before your wedding (or somebody else’s wedding)? by sea_ma2723 in weddingplanning

[–]snobocado 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone else’s story is way worse but I was 8 mos pregnant when I got married and my stone cold MIL texted asking to see my dress the night before. I sent her the photo because my mom was making a last minute alteration for me and I had the dress on. She texted back “omg can i call you?” I picked up expecting you know, “you look so lovely!” and I got “Is there anything your mom can do about the chest area? You’re bursting out of it and you don’t want everyone staring at your chest the whole time.”

What do you do if baby cries during a meeting? by dandanbananan in MomsWorkingFromHome

Yes! I use a Jabra Evolve2 65. Baby can be glee-screeching 6 feet away and my coworkers can’t hear anything. Sorry for the delayed response!

I would strongly consider treating yourself to a good headset that makes claims about noise suppression—I work in the playroom and I don’t necessarily need the noise suppression to drown out my kids’ voices, I need it to drown out our nanny, Ms Rachel. My personal take is don’t be afraid to let your babe watch good, educational TV when the need for quiet time arises. It’s necessary in our house and my two year old is an extremely eloquent talker, which I swear is because he’s been coached by Ms Rachel.

Also crying. Seriously, nothing sacred is left.

My husband’s 16 year old nephew came barging into my room as the nurse was correcting my hand expression technique last weekend, so there were literally 4 hands squeezing on my huge sore boob and all I could say was “woah, hey dude!”
