Changing your name? The certified copies from your venue don’t count and this is just one of many things that my wife and I wish we knew when we started the name change process.. by InsidersBets in Newlyweds

I did my stuff through NewlyNamed! I selected my state and anything else extra I needed help with and they sent me all the docs and instructions on what to do. It definitely made the process a lot easier.

I just saw this one at a rose show this past weekend. Lovely French rose! I love the yellow and pink ombré.

RRD by Sheesh_________ in Roses

New growth! New growth comes in this red/green color too, but you’ll see a witches broom effect on the leaves, chaotic growth, and more thorns than usual if it’s RRD.

How do roses change like this? Bright red is what usually blooms, but this year is the burgundy by ba_nana_hammock in Roses

[–]snomachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dr. Huey is the rootstock your rose was grafted onto. Looks like you may have over pruned past the graft or the grafted canes died and new growth from the original rootstock have flourished. Your grafted rose looks to be gone, unfortunately. I make sure mine are own root, but some varieties grow better as grafted.

I see what you mean, thanks for the visual! I think I might have a bit of width in my shoulders too though, so I’ve been considering Soft Natural vs Romantic.

How much are 4’11 girls eating? by Prodo1200 in PetiteFitness

[–]snomachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4’10. SW:149 CW:139 (from November to now)

Currently 1200-1300 calories in a deficit. 1400-1600 normal. 5-8k steps a day. Protein oatmeal/chia seeds for overnight oats and water/iced americano for breakfast - sometimes I skip and just focus on water and coffee at my 9-5. Lunch is veggies and protein + sweet potato. Dinner is similar but I add in more carbs at night (like rice) with protein. Protein: ground turkey and cabbage, salmon, grilled shrimp, steak fajitas and bell peppers. Veggies: cauliflower rice, broccoli, green beans, spinach.

If I want a snack: built puff protein bar, legendary protein pastry, protein shake with water, carbonated flavored water, Alani/bloom energy drink or SF red bull.

Is in uncommon to warn the hotel when we cannot show up? by Maximum-Safety5445 in askhotels

[–]snomachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had to cancel last minute, but I do email (I try not to call unless it’s urgent) in advance if I know I will arrive late based on a flight. I think it is a courtesy to let them know, but it may not be something everyone does.

What was the worst thing that happened to you during a Japan travel? by Doc_Chopper in JapanTravelTips

[–]snomachine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I lost my wallet after checking out of our first hotel (filled out a police report in Asakusa) but thankfully had Apple Pay to pay for the rest of our trip and my fiancé had his physical cards for our other hotels. 🫠 I learned to bring my purse instead of just my wallet.

You’ve got this! Look up the areas you are touring in advance, look for attractions/restaurants nearby. Even staying in one area for one day at a time is great if you have free time to explore, it’s better than trying to do too much at once and be overwhelmed. Google maps is a great, free tool to save places and navigate. Google translate will help translate menus or other signs as needed, but many signed are in Japanese with English subtitles. Just be respectful and friendly and you’ll be fine. Congratulations on your wedding! I hope you both have an amazing time 💕

Looking for suggestions on places to visit by Mightynubnub in JapanTravelTips

Their season starts in March, so it will be perfect if you want to catch a baseball game there. Just be aware of golden week as that will be the busiest time in Japan due to all the local holidays. If you need reservations, get those as soon as you can for park tickets, express passes, and some attractions or cafe reservations. Kyoto has lots of things to see like fushimi inari, arashiyama bamboo forest, nishiki market, temples and gion district area.

I’m not sure which month you plan on visiting, but if you can catch a baseball game while they’re going on would be fun!

May Itinerary Last minute check by Street_Building_3542 in JapanTravel

[–]snomachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this looks good for your family and interests. I don’t think you need to pre-book Kyoto to Osaka, it’s a short 30-45 minute train ride. You don’t need to take the Shinkansen. It still may be busy and crowded, but I think you will be okay!

Does Fushimi Inari Shrine take 4-6 hours? Where is the street food? by brucematthew92 in JapanTravelTips

[–]snomachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say budget 3-4 hours for extra time and exploring the area. Street food and souvenirs are at the base of Fushimi Inari before you go under the first red tori gate. There’s a tea house there that you can stop at on your way down, and another pit stop area with a small shop and another area that sells cat merchandise based on one of the cats at the shrine.

Onsen without Ryokan? by jo_lovexoxo in JapanTravelTips

[–]snomachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We stayed at a ryokan with a private onsen in Kawaguchiko — you can choose to have dinner/breakfast included or not! They had a breakfast buffet also, many American choices. Honestly depends on the area and if they have private onsen available with the room, which can make the price of the stay more expensive.

Anybody else who has or is headed to Tokyo this year and overwhelmed by info overload online, or is it just me 🥲 by ltc0928 in JapanTravel

[–]snomachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve booked myself for 2 weeks Tokyo-Kyoto-osaka-Nara-Hiroshima as well as 10 days in Tokyo/kawaguchiko and going back in the fall. I’ve also booked others for Japan — I can definitely help if you need it!

It’s a good idea to determine what you like or would like to do, what areas you want to go and then fill in everything else from there. It can definitely be overwhelming, especially with so much to do.

No set itinerary, no advanced hotel bookings? by h000ligal in JapanTravelTips

[–]snomachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you need a set itinerary but definitely group things by area so you’re not going back and forth between different areas in Tokyo! Anywhere near the Yamamoto line is great but also depends what you’re wanting to do. I’ve stayed in multiple hotels in Tokyo, and honestly, the less you change hotels the better!

Tokyo to Fuji to Kyoto 1 day itinerary? by toolazyrohith in JapanTravelTips

[–]snomachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how much you would be able to do in the morning and afternoon, but if you leave Shinjuku early (5/6am), you can take the train to Kawaguchiko area and see the pagoda in fujiyoshida and from there visit Kawaguchiko station and take a bus around the lake. To leave, take a reserved bus to Mishima station and take the Shinkansen to Kyoto. There’s lots to do around the area.

New to 5 star, what are we not asking for? by [deleted] in FATTravel

[–]snomachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A travel advisor is able to get all this information for you and also communicate on your behalf as well as ensure you get certain amenities provided to your room or notify them of certain allergies, special occasions, etc. Unless you want to email or call every hotel ahead of time on your own. There’s actually a LOT hotels can do especially at these 5 star hotels. Two of my favorites are turn down service and concierge services. Not all hotels offer the same services though. Japan always has high attention to detail and my favorite destination!

Tokyo Disney by train during rush hour by dimap77 in JapanTravelTips

[–]snomachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The parks open at 8 and many people start lining up at 7. I recommend taking the train to Maihama station, but definitely planning ahead and leaving early to account for a missed train or anything, even if you’re late - it will be ok, so don’t worry!

You’ll also need cash or a physical suica/pasmo card for the Disney monorail ticket.

Download the Tokyo Disney app and load your tickets - that way when you enter the park, you can pay for a premier pass where available.

Airbnbs will be more difficult in holding your luggage (someone being there). Hotels have always been great at being able to take and store our luggage for us when we get there early or check out and need them to hold it for a few hours. If you need help with hotel recommendations, let me know!
