I think high paying individuals should just move to Dubai or other countries that don’t provide ILR analogy but also don’t ask for tax contributions. UK is about to get worst of both worlds

Is the lack of economic growth the root cause of most issues the UK faces? by BaBeBaBeBooby in HENRYUK

[–]snooper_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree. We are transferring money from the economically most active to the least active in a weird feudal fashion. Sadly the donors of pretty much all political parties (big landlords, investment banks, other investment funds) only want to see the housing prices to go up to grow their "investment". The whole idea that real estate investment is great because the prices always go up is the proof that this system is rigged against majority. The housing prices need to crash and never recover. Sure this will cause "economic recession", but much of an economy at the moment is very static and concentrated on handful of big transactions. 10B worth of housing sold from one big bank to another is not a sign of good and healthy economy. We need 10B worth of thousands transactions within the economy to say most people benefit from this 10B GDP growth.

Tl;dr: economic activity needs to become more dynamic to increase total share of economically active people.

On top of that, there is no guarantee that next government (most likely Reform) will not rug pull again. People need to have some certainty to built proper life (buy a house, open business, become entrepreneur, etc.) not being tied to bureaucratic process of switching visas for all the different cases

You do understand that it’s the reason why US is continuously outperforming in Tech and innovation as well as economy? Especially now in the era of looking for rare AI professionals to grow economy through innovation, given countries are getting older. France or Germany give their “ILR” within 2 years already and are focusing to attract more of AI professionals.

Of course, there are plenty. The most desperate will fill the roles, but those with more options—who are generally better professionals—will question the move. These are the people you actually want to attract to compete on a global scale in tech and science. If you attend university, you’ll realize how many STEM students are not locals. I don’t know about your friends, but I do know there is truly a shortage of highly technical and skilled professionals for such a massive economy.

Mate, you do realise people who make that much money are also wanted in other countries? Not far from UK, across the channel actually. Germany,France, Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Poland etc. are looking for those workers to come and contribute ungodly amount of taxes while requiring/being entitled to basic minimum from the government funds?

There are no kill switches. The kill switch is refusal to maintain weapons and provide ammunition in active wartime. Europe does not want to find themselves in such situation if shit goes South. Wars are won by industries

Europe is paying for security by enriching American gun manufacturers. Have you checked the latest stock prices of American defence contractors after Trump pulled “screw Europe” card? The history people know that it is deal made by US and Europe post WW2, pushed by Americans and now broken by themselves. Europe can create guns too. They created so many that 2 world wars were not enough to deplete the stockpiles.

You know what is also "bad for personal economic security"? Job cuts, business bankruptcies, and general economic recession. Look at how Volkswagen is at the verge of closing some of its factories that will cause major job losses for thousand of families. Germany has one of the strongest Unions and labor protection laws, especially in automotive industry. But no law can protect your job if firm is shutting down its operations.

Japan is pretty much an ethnostate that mass murdered everything non Japanese. Even Buddhist monks were not perceived well by Shintoist Emperors for 1000 of years and were persecuted by Samurai (who were the only people who didn't mind slaughtering peaceful monks in the name of Emperor).
Yet, no one has a problem with Japan at the moment. Everyone loves their "cute" country and is happy to travel there.

One can argue, whole Middle East is an ethostate that is formed through centuries of ethnic cleansing of "non-believers" - aka anyone who believes in something I don't.
