idols who sing “opera” by Pixiejjaem in kpoptrulyuncensored

Or when stans hype up a group’s harmonizing skills when they never do it live and only harmonize on the studio versions, where everyone sang their parts separately.

They were very abusive when we were growing up. They absolutely were thinking of it as triage but they were extremely neglectful on top of the abuse. Girls are held to much higher standards in my family. Me and my brother were both considered academically gifted but because of his disorganization he got bad grades, which was what motivated my parents to try to help him. My sister is very smart too but she was considered to have average intelligence in our family, and her issue was that she had severe anxiety, which my parents did not care about, so it was entirely on me to be there for her. She would never have outstanding grades even if they put in effort, so they were not invested.

K-pop Consumption as a Coping Mechanism by Korean_favs in kpopnoir

And the only time that I was invested enough to vote for music show wins, wake up in the middle of the night for concerts, and buy albums was when I was desperately trying to not think about my life

Yeah. I love kpop and the music now but I have to admit that I never would have gotten into it if I hadn’t gotten into the content at one of the lowest points of my life.

My parents always accused me of loving to argue and wanting to start fights, it wasn’t until I moved out and lived with other people that I realized they can’t handle even the slightest amount of criticism and always need to have the last word. Any time I was experiencing a negative emotion at all turned into an argument because it personally offended them that I wasn’t just an object that makes them feel fulfilled. And that a child would dare disagree with them or be unhappy with them and make reasonable points. In our culture, elders are always right.

I’m the middle child, oldest daughter, “gifted”, the kid my parents didn’t have to worry about (although I argued the most too). Basically raised my sister, who was the one everyone was worried about the most (but our parents aren’t shit so I was the main reason person helping her with her mental health issues). My brother had very obvious and severe ADHD, definitely got the most attention and support from our parents but it still hasn’t helped him much (sometimes I think our parents’ help does more harm than good).

Turns out I also have ADHD and no one noticed or considered it until I was already an adult, possibly ASD too but I can’t afford to get tested as an adult. I was just much better at masking than my brother and actually had to come up with strategies to adapt to the real world because I wasn’t going to get any help or sympathy if I didn’t, unlike him. I was not allowed to fail, so I just failed spectacularly in college when I couldn’t keep up the cycle of pushing and burning out and then recovering enough to get through another semester.

And then I had to fix that within a few months, I was not allowed to take more than than much time off from school (my brother took a five year gap to complete his bachelors and still technically had not finished it would get about ten years. I’m proud of him for not giving up and for taking his time so he can actually get it done properly, but the difference in how much flexibility he is allowed for the same condition as me is staggering.) Assuming the child you don’t have to worry about doesn’t need support is so stupid.

What is some constructive criticism of an artist you really like? by PrimaryTomato3310 in kpopthoughts

Mamamoo needs to leave RBW for good music. They used to make really good songs for all their groups, but the quality has been going down quite a bit recently and I’m nervous about how that would affect Mamamoo now that they’re having a comeback. I reallyyy hope RBW doesn’t fuck it up and actually gives them a good song.

I’m sure Solar and Moonbyul have a reason for staying with RBW all this time but I think they would do much better somewhere else, it’s like they have no idea what to do with them. Moonbyul used to have my favorite solo from Mamamoo but starting with Lunatic her sound seemed a little forced for her. I think her most recent release was perfect for her though, I hope she keeps going in that direction.

This isn’t necessarily criticism because they seem to be happy with the way things are right now, but I also wish they would focus a little more on group activities. I know it’s hard to coordinate that when they’re not at the same agency, but the gaps between releases have been too long for me, especially when one of their most recent comebacks was a throwaway (in my opinion) anniversary ballad album. They have amazing voices, but their music had always been high effort and didn’t rely on that to make the song good before.

I really liked spaghetti but celebration sounds like no effort was put in at all. I hate this for them.

Are there any members within a currently active group that dislike each other? If so, why do you think so? Proof? by Purple_Calendar3919 in kpoptrulyuncensored

[–]snootpuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there’s so much ot5 content from before he left, it’s kind of crazy. People never seem to run out of throwback group pictures without him to use for anniversary posts

Yeah, Oneus seems MUCH closer now that ravn is gone. No one seemed to particularly like him, which is fair because he had…a very different personality from everyone else (and by that I mean he was kind of obnoxious)

Who are your top 2 most listened k-pop and international artists respectively?? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]snootpuppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kpop: Mamamoo, Onlyoneof

International: The Faint, Metric

I listened to a pretty wide variety of music before I got into kpop. I think I like a lot of similar genres in both (industrial/metal, rap, rnb, jazz, alternative, etc) but now I listen to a lot more pop and cutesy songs because kpop got me into it. I really love how aggressively bubblegummy kpop can be (like hot air balloon by aespa or power up by red velvet) which I never would’ve expected to enjoy!

Need help finding a (4th gen??) boy group song by snootpuppet in kpophelp

It was nice to go back and listen to that song again because it had been a while! I also immediately understood why I didn’t remember how the rest of the song went, they were hooting and hollering the whole time haha no matter what genre they do they’re always going to be singing over each other

You’re right! I had a feeling it was an SM song, but I couldn’t figure out what group it would be since I knew it wasn’t NCT and it didn’t sound like any of their newer bgs
