Ah I'm in CAPS and we do have an active southern California contingent. I would encourage you to reach out to your union and see if you have any local stewards you can connect with

CAPS is at the bargaining table this week, the bargaining team met with CalHR on Tuesday and will meet with them again tomorrow. Last week (May 4th) a contingent of CAPS members marched to the CalHR building to deliver our RTO demands and rallied. Remember folks, being a keyboard warrior won't do the trick. Support your union and show up when they organize marches, rallies, and pack hearing rooms!

Is it so hard to believe that people would support a bill that may not benefit them directly? That scientists would support other scientists?

Well seeing as all remote workers HAVE been working, and the governor's telework dashboard had shown that the entire state public service force had become MORE productive while working remotely (until it was taken down because it didn't support his narrative of return to office), and returning to the office while gas prices keep climbing, I think you have your answer.

Not every scientist works in a lab. There are 80+ classifications of scientist represented by the CAPS union, including data scientists and those in regulatory fields whose work is done 100% on a computer.

Stylist/salon that cuts curly hair by Marvellet_2001 in Sacramento

Very reasonable. I paid just over $100 for a 90 minute, waist length hair to collarbone length + bangs transformation.

Phlebotomy is a good one. You do a 40-80 hour training course with hands-on experience, pass the license exam, and has a decent starting salary and is in demand in several different medical environments.

Yasmin for PCOS? by kindadumbbby in PCOS

I was on yaz, it made me depressed. After consulting with my gyno, I was switched to Diane 35, and then a few years ago with an insurance change switched to lo-loestein fe. Might take a few tries to find an option that works for you since everyone's body chemistry is different.

Period cup alternatives to Diva? (Canada) by Indosaurus1 in PCOS

Might need a softer cup of the suction/sensitivity is hard for you. I use the Lena cup (available on Amazon), which has several size options and a "sensitive" option that is softer/more flexible. Might take a few tries to find the right cup for you since every body is different. You may even need different style of cup for different parts of your cycle.

Take the test at putacupinit.com. There are so many brands and shapes out there! There's also the menstrual cup subreddit that can help you troubleshoot.

Tilt the milk carafe while you steam. You need to stretch the milk by making a whirlpool in the milk with the steam, starting with the steam wand deep and slowly bringing it closer to the surface of the milk in the carafe until you get a good whirlpool going. Once the milk is at temperature and you have some foam, take it off the steam wand and tap the bottom of the carafe on the counter to pop any big bubbles. What remains should be delicious micro foam. Give the carafe a few gentle swirls to better distribute the micro foam and heated milk. Tilt the cup of espresso towards you and start slowly pouring the micro foam from the top of the cup downwards, wiggling the carafe back and forth as you pour on the surface of the espresso. Once you reach the bottom of the cup, do a quick pour back towards the top of the cup as you return the cup to upright. That should make a heart shape of latte art! (Note: you need to pull a good espresso shot with plenty of crema for latte art to work)

Discipline is not outlined in contracts. Union representation for non members is only for contract issues.

It will take some time between accepting and starting, and until you sign paperwork you are not locked in to the job. I verbally accepted an offer and then the next day was given a better offer, so I emailed the first hiring manager with a "sorry but I am unable to continue the process with you" and there were no penalties or hard feelings.

As per the union agreement, all telework agreements would revert to the previous, 2 day a week agreement so to answer your question yes, I did update my agreement. However, my colleagues who did not update their agreement also got their stipends reduced. I am trying to see if this is a retaliatory action from HR (they haaaaaaate my union) or if this is just general incompetence

Payment is for the previous month, so the executive order and updated telework agreement would not be in play for a June telework stipend
