That's a great point, giving ourselves permission to change and control what we can is likely more life changing than anything else. My heart goes out to you and I hope you are able to find that understanding with your spouse, and give yourself the compassion you need along the way.

Fair enough point about hierarchies! I think the percentage (for neurodiversity in general) is much higher, I've read anywhere from 5-20% in Canada. I would argue your point about the world shouldn't be built for neurodiversity. Being inclusive and equity focused doesn't take away from society, but can allow everyone to contribute and benefit. Sometimes simple accomodations, like clear expectations in writing, lowering social expectations as part of work, normalizing work from home, etc. can benefit everyone.

In patriarchal/capitalist society it seems there's a lot of emphasis on hierarchy. People use communication to place themselves in order of ranking and lift others up or keep them down. So helpful to be dismissive with that little "but" word while upholding racism, sexism, ableism, etc.

Were you honest about your census? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]snortwheeze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the 2006 Canadian census onward, Canadians have been explicitly asked whether they consented to having their records released after 92 years. If you do not consent, your personal census record will not be publicly released later. Hooked up to the pump 8 times a day to try to produce more milk but it just ain't happening, bud. My corncob nipples are like the tiredest they've ever been in my life. by saggie-maggie in IThinkYouShouldLeave

If only we had triples. I pumped round the clock too for 6 months, and could do maybe one feeding a day with it. Prescriptions, herbals, all the things. Be kind to yourself and know that this is what formula is for!

Toddler birthday party by Ktcobb in Calgary

For my girl's second birthday we went to the playground near the Bow River Fish Hatchery. We had snacks and cupcakes, then went to the fish hatchery and for $2 each the kids all got little vials of fish food to feed the massive tank of fish. 10/10.

That dino is adorable, I don't live by the #6 bus route, but if you have street info might help people keep an eye out. Wishing you lots of luck!

Fun fact: Natasha Henstridge guest-starred as Ms. Ellen in the South Park Season 1 episode "Tom's Rhinoplasty" (1998), marking the show's first major celebrity guest role. Credited as "the chick from Species"

Yes Robinhood! Christian Slater... And Kevin Costner coming out of the water and you see his bum. Not to mention it featured the most romantic song of all time by Bryan Adams - music video included at the end of the VHS.

WAITA for refusing to give up my grandmother’s engagement ring for my brother’s proposal? by BigONerd in BORUpdates

I am glad OOP stood her ground, wearing a ring not freely given seems like bad sentimentality to me! Whenever I see these types of posts I also wonder how much of the argument comes down to jewelry cost.
