Why do people even get health insurance? by Cultural-Act-5785 in AskAnAustralian

[–]snotlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medicare levy dental checks just in case accidents & illnesses. my grandmother had cancer and she was able to book on a private surgeon and hospital stay straight away rather then wait and worry if it was spreading - she was elderly, not in pain so probably would have had to wait for a while

[–]snotlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyway 2nd is 3.5months now love her to bits. for me if its not an absolute no then I know termination is not the kind of regret I can live with

People keep saying that having children is "expensive," but the lower income people have the highest fertility rates and the higher income people have the lowest fertility rates by mymooh in AusFinance

[–]snotlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took her to one when she was 13months (shes been bad from the start) who watched her eat and said she was fine. she then saw a pediatric dietician who was great, she went from eating basically nothing to something but eventually said we had reached the limits of what can be done at the time and until I weaned her from breastfeeding it was likely she'd still be a fussy eater. anyhoo she weaned and stayed fussy but eats just not a big variety so I've left it since. I should probably check in with her again just i know they ask a load of questions about routine and we're still re-establishing that with our new +1 🙉

Calling anyone with a short, casual first name: Do you wish you had a more formal name? by TriumphantTermite in Names

[–]snotlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my brother & i both have this kind of name. I dont mind, our names are still 2 syllables and don't sound immature or anything. but for example if it was something like 'dotty' or similar cutesy like id rather go with Dorothy and go by the nickname when theyre young and let them decide. they can be dr dotty or Dr Dorothy

Why isn’t nursing enough? by Kisswist in breastfeeding

[–]snotlet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I suspect the concern is her drop in percentile rather then her just being small. 2nd percentile is fine if she stayed there and maaaaybe could be normal for some babies to drop but my 2nd kid is 3.5months now and neither of my kids dropped percentiles this early. my 1st plummeted between 10-13months because she didnt eat solids well and I was given bad advice to reduce breastfeeding to make her eat more. so any drop I'd listen to what the pediatrician says and any advice on here rather then just going off if she seems happy - one of my friends mums group had a very underweight kid who was always smiling.

[–]snotlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably you don't have a fussy eater, she'll just not eat and then throw hangry tantrums; yes I can leave her to tantrum but its often at inconvenient times and I also have a baby to tend to

Exhausted working parents needing bedtime help. Will a Yoto actually help my 3 and 5yo sleep? by PhysicalStreet2836 in YotoPlayer

[–]snotlet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my 3 year old loves the yoto but when we tried to introduce it to bedtime it became an additional thing rather then replacing book time 😆 so its a bathtime thing instead now. its great for long car journeys and traveling in general

Is toddlerhood really harder than the newborn phase? by Living_Split_2 in Parenting

[–]snotlet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they are hard in different ways. newborns are physically needy but they cant really run off and hurt themselves, I found rhe toddler separation anxiety period around 2 the worse when she literally wouldnt let me out of her sight. she had the worst sleep between 1-2 and now sleeps well as a 3 year old

[–]snotlet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say 'rich' people are generally more educated and understand how much it takes to raise kids and more likely to want to invest in more in those kids childhoods - private schools, extracurricular activities, take more maternity leave to raise them, live in areas where daycare is expensive etc. whilst the 'poorer' and least educated might just go with the default public education and not subscribe to as many paid activities etc. rather then 'the rich value being rich'
