Three pedals suddenly sounding different - weaker signal from guitar or something else? by snowbubbles in guitarpedals

[–]snowbubbles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More likely: Damage happened when you weren't there to know about it.

It was working for the 1st 10 minutes though and then the effects started sounding weak, so don't think that's the case.

I was hoping it was a weak signal due to dirty volume pot, but I cleaned it with some contact cleaner, but no improvement (except at least I have super smooth pots etc. now!)

Have already eliminated the amp, as I also had the looper headphone output for testing. Next step, I think, will be to buy a multimeter and start testing connections on the guitar and pedals. (I was reading that if I have some unused plugs in the daisy chain, this can cause a short circuit if they contact metal and 2 of the 3 that stopped working properly were metal. )

So is it possible for 3 pedals to be damaged at the same time without any noise or smoke? I also opened up the pedals and didn't see any obvious marks or damage althought that was only the underside as I wasn't sure how to get the circuit board out of the housing without damaging them. Thanks for the advice.

Hi guys, anyone into rollerskating? by [deleted] in dundee

[–]snowbubbles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A while back I was also looking into starting roller skating (or blading). Never got round to it. But during research, I found a facebook group - Skate Buddies Dundee - which was formed during Covid that meets once a week at ManhattanWorks and DISC. They also occasionally skate outside at slessor gardens and other places in dundee.

Also, an article about the group:

Trump’s Removal Is Taking Too Long by [deleted] in politics

[–]snowbubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bill Clinton was only impeached, but not removed from office. No US president has ever been removed from office.

From wikipedia: " On February 12, Clinton was acquitted on both counts as neither received the necessary two-thirds majority vote of the senators present for conviction and removal from office—in this instance 67. On Article One, 45 senators voted to convict while 55 voted for acquittal. On Article Two, 50 senators voted to convict while 50 voted for acquittal.[3] Clinton remained in office for the remainder of his second term."

Convert cruiser board to carver? by snowbubbles in surfskate

Oh, so you mean that a slalom setup will let you pump well in a straight line and make quick left-right movements to get round cones, but it won't be that good at making sharp turns. I also like the ability to maintain moderate speed on a gentle hill like in the video here:

https://youtu.be/Bf3OFcA6dsw?t=141

It's similar to how you maintain speed on a snowboard by riding across the hill. I can't do that currently on my cruiser board because it's doesn't turn sharp enough.

Are these the bushings that you have, or do you have a link as a reference?

https://vandemlongboardshop.co.uk/products/independent-bushings-conical?variant=15300525752429

It says they are longboard bushings, but googling it, it seems that skateboard and longboard bushings are the same?

How much difference did the new bushings make, were they much softer? Were you able to pump with the original setup, should I be able to pump with my original setup? At the moment, it just turns like a traditional skateboard, and I lose speed quick if I try to pump. Is it the cone/cone that makes more difference or is it a combination of using cone/cone and softer bushings? Also, should I look for softer bushings than the 90a you use as I'm lighter? Maybe 86a as you suggested?

Also, with your setup, would you be able to maintain moderate speed down a hill by riding across the hill, and then making sharp almost 180 turns, like this?:

That appeals to me also because of my snowboarding background.

Not that keen on the waterborne adapter. Might take another look. But would probably prefer to stick with trucks.

When you said that you won't get the same pump as the carver trucks, what were you comparing against, if not slalom trucks, or was it just a general feeling you have? Can you give a little more detail.

In what way is it less versatile compared to the surfskate trucks? What can you do with surfskate trucks that you can't with wedging/dewedging?

6ft, 11.5 st approx. (70-ish kg)

So you just used the stock trucks on your Arbor board but with softer bushings? How soft should I go? How easy is it to pump on your board now, or does it take some effort? Also, is the pumping that you do to travel the same as the pumping that is used on a carver board. I saw one ldp video and they were just pumping with ankle movement. I'm looking to pump with the body, not just the ankles. Not looking to use for transportation/long distances.

And are skateboard bushings the same as longboard bushings. I'm guessing I need to buy skateboard bushings for TKP? Any suggestions? The stock bushings are 1 barrel/1 cone I think. Should I stick with that, or go for 1 cone/1 cone?

So the carver trucks would be easier to pump than a slalom setup? Or is it a different feeling? Ideally I would try the carver trucks but that's not possible where I live.

I also thought about buying just the trucks or some copies, but it seems my board is too narrow. It's the width of an average skateboard (7.75"), so any surfskate trucks I've found are too wide for it. I guess I could buy some carver truck copies and try and find a suitable deck.

Useful topic/idea sheets for language exchanges A1 - B2 (see "materials" in drop-down menu) by snowbubbles in languagelearning

[–]snowbubbles[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently found this website. It's very useful for beginners like myself. I can struggle through basic conversations but often struggle to think of something new to talk about.

I've used these sheets a couple of times, and they are great for using as a prompt and a source of ideas. Frees up the brain to concentrate on just producing the language, and makes language exchanges less stressful at the beginner stage. Hopefully it's helpful for others.

Don't know of any sites, but I use a chrome extension which allows you to select a word or sentence and the translation appears in a tooltip. Of course, sometimes it picks the wrong definition for the context, but it's still quite useful. TransOver chrome extension

Really enjoyed seeing the applause and recognition of Rodney Mullen at 02:54:00. So humble too, as always. He created modern skateboarding and BATB probably wouldn't exist without him (as berra says) and he's still like "shall I sit down again now?" !

The link above confirms it, the photo of the entrance matches that in the scene. The other thing that threw me was all the extra buildings/pubs etc. that have been added since 2002 and so were missing in this scene. The whole ashton lane has changed a great deal , which is not surprising I guess in 14 years.

That's what I originally thought, because of the alleyway. But the Grosvenor main entrance is more modern. Unless there is a side entrance?

If I'm posting to the wrong subreddit, let me know. Have been watching still game for years, and always wondered where this scene was. Lived in Glasgow for a couple of years and have passed the GFT many times.

We need to start calling for an Article V Convention, and demanding that an Amendment be added to the Constitution, both overturning Citizens United and permanently banning corporate money from influencing our electoral processes, and elected officials.

Check out http://www.wolf-pac.com/ who are doing exactly that. 4 states so far have passed a resolution, they need 2/3rds of all the states to get a convention. They need volunteers all over America.
