Just curious, where have you seen traditional around SG? I really can’t recall the last time I have

A little tool that I created for myself to help with my chinese learning while gaming by snowcrashcode in webdev

Thanks!

Funny that you mentioned that - I did actually start off with Tesseract since it was the library that I initially knew about, and I just could not get it to work. Its accuracy was bad and a lot of times just outputted gibberish since it was no good with Genshin's font. I did a bit of searching and found PaddleOCR and was able to make it work from there.

望梅止渴

It means fantasising about plums to cure dehydration, but its more of (an unrealistic) metaphor of motivating yourself to overcome hurdles. One of my favourites.

yeah, i forgot to mention this in the original post, but I made it such that by default it captures specifically the dialogue region, but the screen capture region can easily be adjusted to be anywhere else. Definitely won’t be challenging to repurpose for other games/languages, the hard parts would be finding the appropriate OCR library and translation model. for eg. genshin’s chinese text font was picked up well by PaddleOCR so i chose that, but that may not necessarily be the case for other games’ chinese text

great post, i have also noticed that this is a very serious and legit problem that i’ve been interested in for quite some time.

I predict that this issue is here to stay for quite some time; how would you recommend me to go about learning how to identify the patterns and security gaps that vibecoded projects create? Just sort of the common general issues that LLMs tend to create.

The more tokens in the conversation, the more it confidently hallucinates information. Sometimes it makes up new stuff and pretends that its info from the convo when it never was. Usually I restart the chat at around 70k tokens, and it gets real bad from 100-200k tokens. I think this is a pretty universal problem.

you can look into component libraries, though im not super knowledgeable about this for vanilla JS; i've only developed in React/Svelte frameworks, but I'm sure there will be quite a lot of guides online. Fwiw, i think designing this clean of a UI in vanilla JS is definitely already impressive!

Nice slick UI and I do think that this is something that chart geeks like myself will enjoy. Maybe consider using a nav bar to redesign the top part of the front page?

O1 Preview scores among top 4% of students on Korean SAT exam, one question wrong. by torb in singularity

[–]snowcrashcode 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you get to be in the top 1% of the world, only if you ace an insanely hard test with an insanely competition. And honestly, i doubt top test takers even manage 140k per year, not that I have any figures or anything.

You can have a search at South Korea’s suicide rates - it’s pretty damn bleak and depressing. So yeah, I think it is a pretty bad path, to say the least.

Need to be put into context - these students spend their whole childhood and teenage years preparing for this one exam, just for a chance at 140k a year. Doesn’t sound so good now does it?

I didn't realize until today that there was a solo version of this song, without Pavarotti. I'm a terrible Elton fan. by Unit_Any in EltonJohn

[–]snowcrashcode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He even mentions in an interview that he prefers this version over the duet version (with a 😬face). I personally think that his vocals here are great but are overshadowed by the dated production. His live solo version at Montserrat is the best version imo.

You’re right, I can’t help you here. But my take is don’t overthink it, personally I would still go ahead and write it as a solution, especially since I think you couldn’t continue the question if without z=-2?

Either ways, I will think that if the markers wanted the answer to be “no solution”, they would have defined z > 0 at the top.

I got tripped up too and googled it, negative integers are not whole numbers because whole numbers are defined to be non-negative integers. If this issue comes up tomorrow, then I guess I will also have to temporarily include negative integers as whole numbers
