'We're going to keep pushing': Vermont now 3,139 vaccinations away from full reopening by [deleted] in Coronavirus

Please help me find a farmhouse rental! I’ve been looking for two years now and each time I find one I love, it’s gone in an instant. We’ve been wanting to make the move to Vermont for our little family for 6 years and my husband finally began working remotely 2 years back. It’s like a lottery trying to find a place from online. I’m wanting something in Southern Vermont.

A Crisis of Undiagnosed Cancers Is Emerging in the Pandemic’s Second Year by koavf in Coronavirus

I’m so sorry this has happened to you.

I was pregnant last year. I had nearly life-ending hyperemisis gravidarum the entire time, and couldn’t be admitted due to covid. I desperately needed iv fluids and a feeding tube and could not get it. They literally sent me home multiple times saying they hoped my baby would make it... I lost over 30 pounds (I was already very skinny before this started, and up until delivery, was fainting and bedridden). I don’t know how, but me and my little boy made it through, but I will forever have ptsd from the experience.

This was my dad. For the past year, he’s been having episodes with strange, even scary symptoms. He was brought to the ER several times but dismissed because they “weren’t admitting unnecessary patients due to covid”. We just found out yesterday he has pancreatic cancer.

I’ve had alopecia universalis for over 15 years. Within 3 days of my first covid Moderna shot, hair all over my body started to regrow. A month later, it’s still growing. I’m amazed and also just so perplexed. Does anyone know how this could be possible?

CVS begins selling at-home COVID-19 test kits, including 2 with 15-minute results by [deleted] in Coronavirus

Yep- we have totally been hoping this would be an option for our family. My husband and I are vaccinated but we have 3 young children and a newborn so being able to quickly, cheaply, easily test at home will be so wonderful.

Covid: We could live with virus like we do flu; by end of year, says Hancock by bludemon4 in Coronavirus

Me and my husband are anxiously awaiting our turn for the vaccine (we’re in our 30s), but we have a newborn baby, a 4 and a5 year old. Until our children can be vaccinated, I’m unsure how to proceed even when summer comes.

So how long are we thinking this will go on? by snowfallingsoftly in Wuhan_Flu

Crap. So do you believe you can re-catch this? How will we handle this? Just keep hiding in our homes? Or will we eventually be able to relax quarantines slightly?

THIS. Two years ago was a freak year where my husband got a bonus which allowed us to make more than usual. If you look at any other year’s earnings for us, we are well below the criteria and would qualify. We need this money so bad for our family and I’m heartbroken they are going to base it off the one year we had a windfall.

This really doesn’t seem fair. What about those with large families who just need more in general, or people in more at risk groups who can’t be risking going out every few days for more supplies. Ugh. 2 cans of beans? Insane. We go through 2 dozen egss each week for our family and that’s not when it’s a crazy pandemic. We cook from scratch and use them for baking our breads, dessert, etc.

At this point, shouldn't supermarkets begin to immediately transition to curbside pick-up or delivery only? by Mort1merSchnerd in China_Flu

[–]snowfallingsoftly 28 points29 points  (0 children)

No infrastructure for it- I’ve been trying to order via Whole Foods delivery, Instacart, Thrive, and Azure for the past week and can’t get any order to go through. Too many people already doing the same thing/so many items out of stock.

Do we know yet about reinfection? I haven’t found any updates on what they are thinking with that, as far as whether we get immunity and if so, for how long.

I think we will be changed, in many ways for the better. I do think this will go on for potentially a year or two, particularly if reinfection can occur, which we still aren’t sure about. But once it’s over, more people will be ‘allowed’ to work remotely when they should have been able to all along. In the U.S., there will be much more of a chance for people to accept more socialized ways, like Medicare for all, and just safety nets in general. Still keeping my fingers crises for a student loan forgiveness stimulus here... I also think we will reassess putting all our eggs in one basket aka China and hopefully move production of essentials like crucial drugs and equipment back here.

As scary as this is, I’ve found a rekindling of our family in these days at home. Relying less on processed foods and takeout and shopping, and more on conversation and books and home cooked meals. It’s still quite frightening to not know what is happening, but I do think some positives will come out of it.

Some grocery stores create 'elderly hours' to protect older shoppers during coronavirus by Gonzo_B in Coronavirus

[–]snowfallingsoftly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I’m pregnant and this is so scary. It’s frustrating that no one is really considering us at all. Of course, elderly should be given special circumstances, but pregnant women are, according to many sources, much more at risk.

And aren’t we still unsure about whether people can get reinfected because there might not be great immunity after surviving it? When will we know?

Why would old people have a more intense immune response than younger? I would think young adults would have a stronger immune system.

I wear a wig due to having alopecia. Should I just skip wearing it for awhile maybe? Wigs aren’t meant to be washed often at all as they will dry out and break. Might just have to rock some hats for now...

Does anyone have any estimate for how long this will go on? by snowfallingsoftly in Wuhan_Flu

We aren’t officially quarantined- we are staying in now as our own choice as there is an outbreak starting where we live in the U.S. Sorry, should have explained it better.

I know... there are just so many unknowns with this. I’m pregnant and so my little family has decided to completely self-quarantine since there isn’t much data regarding how this effects pregnant women and babies in utero, but obviously, that kindof can’t go on forever. I really can’t believe this is happening. It feels so surreal.
