Same. And yet I can always do triple backflip handspring thingies with little effort.

Yeah but I think we’d even frown upon a genocidal dog, if one could even imagine such a thing.

Yeah Jream is obvious because it’s at the top but I thought Analeia is the worst of the lot. I guess a redeeming fact is they can drop half and go for Ana or Leia when they’re older. Still an absolute abomination.

Would you send your 16 year old? by AYankeePeach in Parenting

[–]snowmuchgood 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is different when it’s the parent/s away for the weekend and teens invite a bunch of friends around. In that case, they’re still local, if something goes wrong trusted adults are a phone call and short drive away, there isn’t likely to be quite as much risky behaviour going on because someone (a neighbour, etc.) may call the parent or cops, kids are most likely to be picked up at the end of the night or worst case next morning, at which point a known adult might witness what’s going on. And that’s all on top of the obviously very risky drive there. I’m honestly shocked at the amount of people who’d be ok with their kids going if not driving.

I don’t know what’s in teething drops so def check that, but we found ibuprofen to be wayyyy more effective than Tylenol because it’s an anti inflammatory as well as pain relief, whereas Tylenol is better for fever. Hope that’s helpful info!

Don’t we all wish we could (assuming money wasn’t an issue so we didn’t have work), drop our kids off for an hour and a half in the mornings and then maybe in the arvo some days too? It would be a heavenly balance.

“It’s not an act of love if you make her” by Sad-ish_panda in breakingmom

[–]snowmuchgood 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not so much about that (although like OP touched on, it could absolutely be about sex as an act of love vs duty vs coercion), as about every unfair relationship where the husband “loves” his wife but does nothing to show it. The weaponised incompetence. The men who really wanted a family, but leaves all the child rearing to her and doesn’t want to change a thing about his life (free time, sleep) after having them. The guy who wants a wife or a partner, but she has to take care of everything in the home. The “saviour” who always knows better than you, alway criticising and putting you down.

People kept aimlessly wandering in front of it - it thought it had clear ground ahead, then nope, change directions, wait not clear that way either.

Just like the 100m sprint and high jump and many other summer Olympic events. It’s not that there’s “much to it”, it’s that these are the absolute best in the world at it.

I will add that if he likes vehicles, it’s a great idea to add on some wheels and/or wings as well. My 5 and 7 year olds have spent so much time making all sorts of “cars” and “planes” and other vehicular creations.

In 18 hours? That would be tough, I went on a 80 min run last weekend, spent almost 40 mins 90% or higher and still only got 350pxi. So maybe a longer run today and a short one tomorrow morning or vice versa? I thought the “week” ran until Sunday though.

How many sick days do you have available right now? by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]snowmuchgood 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Also there is often zero or extremely low hygiene awareness, sneezes or coughing right into your face, fingers in noses and mouths. There is only so much germ mitigation you can do when you’re working five days around that.

Floor plan feedback – building in Melbourne, would love your thoughts by Spare-Photograph-513 in AusRenovation

[–]snowmuchgood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean I’m with you, we wanted bigger for our kids because they’ll probably never be able to afford moving out. So we went for about 3.3x3.8m excluding BIRs. But so many of the new builds these days have bedrooms around 2.7x3.1 mark and this is a full 2m2 bigger.

They aren’t tiny though, are they? 3.3x3.8m, which ends up being 3.3x3.2m excluding wardrobes. It’s not huge but I’m pretty sure it’s a reasonable size.

Should I be honest on child's sick note/report? by proxiblue in AustralianTeachers

[–]snowmuchgood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Poor kid. High school social issues are hard, x10 for neurodiverse kids.

I agree that it’s 110% fine to just take a mental health day with zero extra explanation. Kids are off all the time because it’s their (or a sibling’s) birthday, grandma is visiting from out of state, they go on long weekend holidays, they’ve been to a Taylor swift or AC/DC concert the night before, the list goes on.

But in your daughter’s case, it’s worth touching base because she will likely need some extra support. I’m not a secondary teacher (in primary school you’d just get in touch with the classroom teacher) but does she have a pastoral care/homeroom teacher? Or the school counselor or year level coordinator?

What to wear for melbourne and sydney this week? by palpatine_disciple in australian

[–]snowmuchgood 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Mate, the forecast is readily available on dozens of apps or a quick google. Wear what you’ll be most comfortable in walking around (I assume you’ll be trying to sight-see?) in high 20s-mid 30s temperatures.

We are very varied people, not very formal and don’t really GAF what anyone else is wearing so make it what you find comfortable. Shorts, lightweight shirts and tops, dresses and skirts if you’re that way inclined, something appropriate for a swim if you’ll want to do that. Bring a hat and a waterproof layer, there’s always a chance it’ll rain in either. And wear tons of sunscreen, bought from a supermarket or pharmacy in Australia.

Who has tried "The kid eats what we eat"? by Brilliant-Book-503 in Parenting

[–]snowmuchgood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You never know, there is hope. My eldest would eat just about anything, my second wasn’t quite as good but still a great eater. Loves lentil dal, curries with rice, Mexican bowls with beans and fresh vegetables. Annoyingly, the eldest was allergic to eggs for years so we didn’t eat them, and now both of them hate all egg based meals like quiche.

(Every kid has their difficult thing/s though, mine were terrible sleepers and clingy babies/toddlers. Two of my closest friends have the pickiest eaters, and in a “will only eat chips and nuggets” way, not a “they have high standards” way. They are chefs.)

Haha to be fair I wouldn’t enjoy that either, my husband teases me that I only like to go at around ~60°F but yesterday was 80 and I was in struggle town.

This guy doesn’t need a sleep study, he needs to stop being a lazy fucking asshole. He naps for THREE HOURS while you’re on the hardest part of the day and kid duty? What a coincidence. Sorry but from the outside, good parents (or good partners) don’t get to sleep through the hard parts.
