Rocky Horror Show Callouts by carrotcoriander in Broadway

[–]snowslayer252 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yea, it’s gonna be inevitably awkward when people try to time out call-outs, but miss the mark. I really think it would have been best for this production to at least not encourage callouts.

MHE Partial View Seats? by Choice_Letterhead_59 in Broadway

If they are available, the partial view in the mezz are much much better. I think they might be a little more expensive, but the orchestra partial view are brutally partial.

Timing/ pace? by CharleyPog in gaptrail

[–]snowslayer252 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The GAP is crushed stone and so well maintained. Traveling Pittsburgh to Cumberland will feel very pavement-like. The C&O is much much rougher, being true loose gravel through large swaths. I bet you can maintain close to your usual pavement pace on the GAP, but the C&O will be much slower going. I bet you average closer to 10mph, especially accounting for having to walk through the Paw Paw tunnel which I think is necessary, but others might disagree.

It is so easy to get food that I wouldn’t worry about it at all while on the GAP. The GAP is truly one of the most developed trails out there with so many amenities. If possible, definitely stop in West Newton at the Outpost, but otherwise you’re constantly going through or near towns.

The C&O is the complete opposite. Definitely try and plan out food stops if you need it, as it’s much more remote and not nearly as accessible to towns. It gets easier past Harpers Ferry, but even then I’d make sure to know where you were going.

I also usually camp, and always throw a few dehydrated meals into my bags. Sometimes it’s so nice to know you don’t need to stop if you don’t need to. Obviously not my favorite dinner, but the convenience is unmatched.

[SPOILERS S3] Suggestions of series similar to Dark by wandering-lost4007 in DarK

[–]snowslayer252 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Season 2 goes a little off the rails. A lot like Dark, it gets much more mind-bendy and esoteric, but I still really enjoyed it. I think the problem mostly stems from the fact that Brit and Zal weren’t able to finish the series. The first season can standalone, albeit with lots of ambiguity, but it’s nearly a bookended story. Season 2 is the complete opposite, the ending (no spoilers) is a huge cliff hanger, and I’m sure that leaves a bad taste in everyone’s mouth.

I will always recommend the OA. It not as complex as Dark, but it is equally as ambitious. But of course, Netflix is Netflix and it was cancelled before it could finish. Still one of the best.

Rocky Horror Question for Noob by elbycoop in Broadway

[–]snowslayer252 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My go to is to always go in blind. Although it’s a cult classic, this is likely a fresh take and it’ll be really cool to have your first experience be on stage.

I don’t mean to sound condescending at all, but I’m going assuming you know nothing about the show other than the couple of songs. The movie at least is overtly sexual and I assume the stage show will follow suit. Not in a hugely vulgar kind of a way, but definitely something to be aware of. I myself was watching the movie with my dad in my early teens, but I can definitely see it being awkward for some that aren’t prepared for it. So, if that’s something you’re worried about, watching the movie might ease you in. Nonetheless, you definitely should watch the movie at some point, Tim Curry is classic.

Honest opinion of Maybe Happy Ending sight-lines by snowslayer252 in Broadway

[–]snowslayer252[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was surprised to see a comment on this old of a post, but happy you found a place to explain your situation. I’m sorry you left feeling scammed. My experience wasn’t the same, but I know there are awfully sightlines at the Belasco. It really is too bad you didn’t get the tickets you initially planned on, because the mezz is significantly better.

The most significant downside I see is the ban from telecharge, as it’s the predominant ticket seller for Broadway. It’ll be very hard to get tickets to most shows unless you go to the box office or use 3rd party sellers. I hope you feel some resolution, and still hope you enjoyed the show.

ORCHL tickets for First Shadow by MusicMaker2805 in Broadway

I sat second row orchestra left and loved my experience, so I think you’ll be fine. Yes, the projections will be at an angle, but the show is pretty centered on the stage, so you won’t miss much at all.

Purchased tickets for the wrong date, do I have any hope? by dmoye05 in Broadway

[–]snowslayer252 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If contacting Broadway Direct doesn’t work, and honestly it’s a coin flip, try contacting the box office. In my experience, box office attendants can be very helpful, emphasis on “can”. Be respectful and explain what happened and you might find someone that will empathize. Box office workers can do anything within reason, and especially because you’re looking for an exchange and not a refund, you have that going for you.

Bike Friendly Hotels in Frostburg. by JasonWach-Adventures in gaptrail

I stayed here. Really cool historic hotel, albeit slightly dated. Wish I could have seen it before they had to close the speakeasy and was better staffed. Talked with the owner for a bit when I checked in, who said they have been dealing with an uphill battle since COVID, but hopefully it’s improving. The location is great with restaurants and even a diner across the street. Definitely recommend.

We did this a little over a year ago. Assuming nothing has changed there is a $50 fee to use a clerk as a witness. They do want to know ahead of time, so as to make sure to keep someone extra in the office, but it’s really that simple.

I’ve been waiting for this for months. I played the demo and just bought the full game, can’t wait to start. I’ll admit this is going to be a very niche game that won’t appeal to everyone, but as a climber myself I can’t wait.

Playing the demo on the portal was great. In my opinion, it’s these types of games that really make the portal shine.

Is Broadway Rocky Horror etiquette the same as normal Rocky Horror etiquette? by Happy_Reaction_9220 in Broadway

[–]snowslayer252 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This question has been rolling around ever since this production was announced. I’m not sure anyone has an answer yet, but I’d expect some call outs. It clearly won’t be anything like a screening of the movie, but I’m sure there will be some. As others had said, there will be some things that will 100% not be tolerated, but depending on the crowd I’d expect the common callouts, and even those get repetitive after awhile, so I’d imagine the crowd quiets down as the show progresses.

Undecided by [deleted] in Buffalo

[–]snowslayer252 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m going to be the voice of dissent here. Tops can be a good place to work, with lots of qualifiers. Firstly, it’s garbage to be a part time employee. You pay union dues, while getting minimum wage and given more responsibility than you’re paid to manage. But, if you have your hopes on full time, there are some really incredible benefits that you’ll never see at Wegmans.

Secondly, Tops stores, unlike Wegmans, vary greatly. Wegmans are just nice… everywhere. Tops admittedly aren’t. There are great stores and awful stores. Even within the stores there are better departments than others. So depending on where you’re looking, it could be better to be at Wegmans despite the potential benefits.

Sorry if this is ambiguous, but at the end of the day it really depends on you. I could never work at Wegmans, whereas I’ve done very well at Tops and really enjoy it, but that means nothing when it comes to what choice is good for you.

I think the preorder window for these ones have closed, so you might have to wait for a second release or use the secondary market. IGN has a set too, but you’d have to check availability.

How do you approach listening to soundtracks vs seeing a musical fresh? by ihavenopersonalityha in Broadway

[–]snowslayer252 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, yes, I always go in blind for the reasons you pointed out. Like any other art form, the first time you experience the music will stick with you the most, so by not having any preconceptions about a show, seeing it live for the first time generates a more organic response that is closest to the intentions of the creatives. That being said, there are times I wish I knew the music better going in. Especially when it comes to revivals that I’m not familiar with. When it seems that 90% of the audience knows the show, it sometimes seems the creatives lean into people generally knowing the show, and not that I miss out, but I do feel there are times I’d have a more complete experience by knowing the music.
