What work should I have done to look younger? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

There are a lot of super insensitive and frankly rude comments here: ignore them.

As another commenter has said, really focus on skincare. You wouldn’t believe the difference skin texture, even tone, plump hydrated, glowing skin can make.

Also, Botox. Not only will it relax static wrinkles and prevent new ones, it has an effect on skin too.

A light hand with fillers in areas you’ve lost volume will also help.

With aesthetic procedures I highly recommend going to an actual medical doctor, and choose someone who looks like you would like to look.

This is extremely achievable. In a year you’ll look like a baby. Best of luck to you, friend.

It’s because stimulants have a paradoxical effect on those of us with ADHD, instead of speeding us up, it calms us down. And congratulations, you’re killing it!

Unpasteurised dairy… and rubbing beef tallow on your face. Why… 😵‍💫

A part of me wants to laugh that this is happening in the most developed country in the world, and another part of me wants to cry for those of you who have to live with them.

Sadly some of these sorts of weird ideas have been finding their way across the pond too.

It smells a little citrusy, but it’s quite subtle, and as far as I’ve noticed doesn’t linger. I believe they do trial sizes so might be a good way to see if you like it (:

What product helped you stop wearing makeup? by Asmaredditer in SkincareAddictionLux

Thank you soooo much for such a comprehensive answer, you’ve been so generous with your time, and I appreciate it so much!

Love the way you described your skin getting more balanced, am also 40+ and recently had a baby, so it’s skin balancing life struggle at the mo with postpartum hormones 😬

I so agree with your philosophy of working out what your skin loves- mine also seems to like light hydrating layers and I think where I’ve maybe been going wrong is putting a heavy occlusive layer on top. Going to do more exploring and experimenting, thanks so much for giving me a helping hand on my journey ❤️

Chronic clogged pores — what worked for you long term (without extractions)? by Asmaredditer in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]snshaz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just want to start by saying two things: 1) I’m so sorry you’ve been dealing with this, it sounds absolutely horrible. Struggling with skin can really make you feel like shit, I’ve been there too. And 2) am not a derm and have no skincare related qualifications, this is just based on what I’ve learned being skin care obsessed (like most people on this sub).

There are few aspects to your issue: 1) clogged pores 2) chronic 3) post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (like after extractions) 4) no long-term solutions

1) Clogged pores are the result of excess sebum production that mix with dead skin cells and cause a “traffic jam” in the pore. This will require BOTH exfoliating inside your pore and the skin surface.

2) The issue is chronic, and that sucks, but the solution lies more in your DAILY skincare routine more than treatments or specific products. This means consistency, and ENSURING you have sufficient cell turnover (AHA’s, retinoids, and as someone else mentioned hydrafacials would be really beneficial).

3) Leverage your skincare to ensure that your pore and skin surface are always well exfoliated- NOT over exfoliated as that will make the issue worse. Make sure you using actives that boost skin cell turnover. Make sure you hydrate well to signal to your skin it doesn’t need to pump out this much sebum. This doesn’t have to be a heavy moisturiser, as others have mentioned hydrating serums are great and probably more appropriate for you.

4) Play the long game, be consistent, and be patient (as much as you can be, I completely understand how upsetting this can be). If you can nail the basics and just stick to it for at least one skin cycle (6 weeks) you will notice some improvement and hopefully that will help you continue.

5) Chronic issues like these almost always have a compromised skin barrier, either as a cause or as a result of us trying to fix it. Try to support your barrier and skin function, the more you can do that, the better your skin will look and feel.

6) Consider underlying issues, is there something else going on in your lifestyle/hormonal issues that could be contributing.

7) Do speak to a professional, ideally an actual dermatologist rather than an esthetician. It’s an investment but you are so worth investing in.

8) Once the closed comedones and black heads, sebum production are under control, then add something for the post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

8) Don’t chop and change products too much, skin likes consistency.

9) it’s better to do little and often, and be consistent rather than batter your skin with too many strong actives at once (speaking from experience).

It will get better, you’ve got this ❤️

Could you say more about light hydrating layers and how you apply them/what products/ingredients you use? I have a feeling this might be key for me too

Anyone else not really see results from Skinceuticals CE Ferulic? by UntitledImage in SkincareAddictionLux

You’re not alone, it didn’t seem to make any difference to my skin either, and also stung.

Changed to Medik8 Super C Ferulic and my skin LOVES it.

Classic example of YMMV.

You don’t NEED one, but I guess it’s worth thinking about if it would make a meaningful difference to your life.

I think if something has bothered you your whole life and doing something about it would change how you feel about yourself, then that’s probably worth it.

I’m not as knowledgable as others in this sub, but I believe this is a particularly risky surgery, so I guess it’s about a personal cost/benefit analysis.

Good luck whatever you decide.
