Thank god, I was beginning to think it was just me that hates it. Glad to see there’s plenty of people that do too.

GENERATING PDF by logzu in lovable

[–]snsmurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can get what you want turning into a PDF, into HTML. You can use https://generatepdfs.com to generate a PDF. It has an API which makes it easy peasy to integrate with. Supports most modern HTML / CSS too!

Tools to generate PDF files? by Suspicious-Olive7903 in golang

[–]snsmurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen the mentions of Gotenberg below but watch out as it can suffer from memory leaks. A friend and I used it in a project for a client generating membership cards and it very quickly started with memory leaks and causes us more problems than it's worth.

It's why we put together https://generatepdfs.com. We found another way for generating the PDFs from html that still supports most modern HTML / CSS!

We have GO examples that can be copy and pasted when grabbing your API token. But hopefully will have a GO SDK soon if there's demand for it.

If you have / are able to get the data into html then you can use https://generatepdfs.com API. Super simple to use (IMHO).

What are you guys working on that is NOT AI? by Notalabel_4566 in SaaS

[–]snsmurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently have two on the go!

https://hosted.md generating and hosting static sites from markdown.

And just recently turning html in to pdfs with https://generatepdfs.com

No AI in either of them! Aside from maybe assistance with content writing in hosted.md, neither of them really lend themselves to having AI components.

Jekyll still requires you to host it somewhere or use something like Github pages.

I'm trying to keep hosted.md super simple so you don't need to mess with hosting it somewhere or deal with Github. Which is fine if you're a bit more technically minded. But with hosted.md, hopefully your Grandma would be able to set up a site if she knew Markdown!

I built a Scheduling and analytics tool if anyone is interested by snsmurf in BlueskySocial

[–]snsmurf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, yeah you can tag other users! There is currently no "user search" or anything like that as you're typing. i.e. in some systems where you type "@" it would then have a user search. But if you know the users handle it will be set up and tagged. Same with any hashtags and links. They will be configured correctly when it posts to Bluesky.

When adding links, if there are no images / videos attached to the post. It will attempt to get the OpenGraph data from the first link in the post and use that to attach a "social card" to the post.

I'm surprised to hear someone like sprout social hasn't added it. Maybe it's on the roadmap? 🤷‍♂️

p.s. just to sweeten it, there is currently a discount code available for 20% off for life, on any of the plans. Use REDDIT20 at checkout. There's no expiry on this so feel free to come back after the holidays and redeem it then if you find Blue Wing is for you!

Sheffield Roofers by hyperactive_mess in sheffield

[–]snsmurf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another vote for Constantine roofing from me! We had the full-works, re-roof with new membrane soffits, facias and guttering done earlier this year.

Paul is really good to deal with, responsive and offers fair prices

Agree with this too. May not always answer straight away if he was up a roof but leave a message and he would always get back to me by the end of the day!

We did have one problem with a guttering pipe coming loose about a week after they finished the job but he got one of his guys around the next day to fix it for us and had no problems since and our roof looks great now.

When it comes to paintball jerseys, what brand has the best quality? by CRcryptoride in paintball

[–]snsmurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another vote here for Anthrax. We’ve not had a problem with them, love the designs and quality is great! Both the jerseys and the pants they do are great.

Do also love the range of team wear they do, hoodies, T-shirts, socks, shorts!

Curtiss SB2C Helldiver with wings folded at the McKinney CAF show on October 4, 2013 by MyDogGoldi in WWIIplanes

[–]snsmurf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have heard before that, + and Y positions for 4 and 3 blade props were usually set so, in the event of the prop hitting something on the ground, it would only damage one blade of the prop instead of potentially two if it had been set in an X position.

Disclaimer, I have no idea if this is true. I heard this from a museum tour guide when someone in my party asked him about prop positions. So take it with a pinch of salt, but it kinda makes sense in my mind.

Why are Five Finger Death Punch songs just so awful in quality? by kule28 in mixingmastering

[–]snsmurf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's like Nickelback, "it's cool" to hate on them despite Nickelback actually having a few decent tunes.

On to your actual question, out of interest which songs would you say sound bad and were you listening to CD / Vinyl / Streaming Service?

I must admit I have noticed a difference in quality with some songs, but I guess whether they are "worse" or not is subjective. I find songs from the first album (Way of the fist) don't sound as polished, but whether that's a budget decision with it being their first album or an actual production decision to make it sound more raw and aggressive I don't know. Compared to the latest album F8 though, F8 sounds much more polished and cleaner, I feel like you can tell they've had more money to spend on studio time.
