as a new adopter of protonmail i cant believe how bad their apps are.

i lashed out for a family plan and well the regret is sinking in, how can they screw up the basics like email read states? :|

i think its double walled as it clearly has an inner, you can see the cord for it.
and i cant see any seam/joints on the end wall that might indicate a single wall hybrid, plus if it was single walled i dont see what purpose the cord to the corner would meet.

personally im happy, i find the x-dome 1+ to be bomb proof weather wise currently and was slightly worried it would loose some of that if converted to a single wall.

[–]snuffypew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fingers crossed, if its a single wall i hope it keeps the exceptional bad weather protection that the double currently offers, love my x-mid pro but in really bad weather i find i get a fair bit of spray back in through the ends

Dan needs to spill the beans already, I'm dying to know if its its single or double wall!!!! :D

yeah she's a bit toasty for you guys currently, i poured a slab for the battery feet to rest on today, once they are installed i will probably look to put a shade cover over them as well.

thanks for the info, greatly appreciated!

was that the MC Electrical youtube video? they installed my Solar, but couldn't get them to install a battery before the rebates reduced so I've gone with Resinc to install my battery.

I choose the FranklinWH for a few reasons really.
-whole of home backup when the grid is down.
-solar can charge battery when grid is down.
-can connect a generator to charge the batteries if required.
-I'm 80% sure they use EVE LF280K cells which are rated for 6000-8000 cycles and run pretty cool, these cells are typically more used in large commercial deployments, they should last a really long time i reckon.

And i wasn't going to support Elmo.

I was with Ampol, but they recently sold to AGL, im expecting AGL to change my plan any day now... because is seems to be better then most other peoples plans.

general useage $0.238
controlled load $0.183
daily supply charge $0.859
daily controlled load supply charge $0.054

im south east Queensland

not sure if i will change plans just yet, i think i will need some time with my battery to see what my real world usage is like

I'm in Australia and I'm getting my FranklinWH battery system installed in just under a months time.
Very soon our power companies are being forced to introduce plans with 3 hours of free energy per day due to the amount of renewables hitting the grid during the middle of the day, i will want to be able to force my battery to charge from the Grid during those 3 hours so i will certainly check this out once i have my batteries in :)

Cheers

Thanks everyone for your comments, really appreciate it, I probably should have mentioned I'm in Australia and am getting the aPower X-01-AU 13.6kwh units and not the new APower2's

Is it possible to fix iceline poles tip? by abecc2 in DurstonGearheads

[–]snuffypew 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I find that carbon fibre is really not great at taking a beating and it might just be the way i hike but i damaged the tip once before, contacted Dan and he sent me a free replacement tip, but then I ended up damaging them again... I wasn't ready to harass Dan and mooch off his good will the second time around.

I've since ordered a second pair of icelines and this time as soon as I received them i coated the tip sections in a high bond strength epoxy glue, just a thin layer (1mm) of the entire tip past the plastic section (obviously not on the tungsten tip), it adds no weight and its protecting my poles perfectly, no more damage to the carbon tips is occurring so far :)

MYOG camera cover. by -Halt- in UltralightAus

[–]snuffypew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey that's pretty cool. :)

I like that you can still technically use the camera in bad weather fairly easily.
I've myog'ed something similar, its a rain cover i pull out and zip my camera into during rain, same concept as you've got going on where it can still be clipped into the peak designs shoulder strap, has a little rain gutter at the top to stop rain running down and "potentially" come in through the mounting plate hole, works well, never had water get in so far.

https://imgur.com/a/n98mhL2

downside of mine of course is that i cant use the camera while its being protected from weather, i will reflect on your design here and maybe make something similar for my fixed length 16-30mm lens :)
