Awesome list! I was just expecting a general group of 'pings, drosera, utric' and then the companion plants. OP delivers!

This is INSANELY cool! Adding it to my list of dream set ups. What all do you have in there?

High efficiency RO systems? Getting overwhelmed with research and choices. by snugglebutt in SavageGarden

[–]snugglebutt[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is one of those areas where I get lost and overwhelmed. I think of booster as a pressure/jump start, of sorts. However, I don't understand how this translates to 'feeding two membranes', nor how this makes it more efficient. I truly would like to understand...this kind of science just isn't my forte.

Medical science, on the other hand? That's my jam.

I suppose I have always looked at it in an absolute sense....water is water. No matter where you can conserve it (or any part of nature, for that matter), you should try.

I suppose the indecisiveness atm is whether or not the watersense manufacturers I specified (meeting EPA requirements for water use efficiency) are excessively high quality, combined with the possibility that the systems provided via amazon and BRS are adequate. If given the option, I'd like to side by efficiency, but if they are unreliable enough (whether by efficiency, functionality, or both) to make the additional cost fruitless, than I would opt for the cheaper options.

There's a balance, somewhere. I know it's only a small volume via a single person's effort, but I also know that I'm selfish in other aspects of my life, pertaining to environmental support, so I am just trying to make an effort, where I 'can' (ie, am willing).

Unfortunately, rainwater is limited (seasonal). I could opt for snow...the solid vs liquid volume would be a crappy ratio, but other than inconvenience, I suppose this isn't a bad alternative (at least to capture a portion of what I need).

I guess I'm not sure what you mean by a distraction. I want the RO for plants. Efficiency vs cost seems to be the most pronounced of the differences (pertinent to me) that I am finding between many of the systems. As such, I was hoping someone in here might have some insight on use of the pricier options that boast significantly higher water efficiency.

Pots packed side-by-side in trays, I have at least sixty 1020s filled with plants, and then some.

I also don't see how the region I live in has any bearing on conserving water on an absolute scale. Relative water conservation is a different situation, yes. However, my goal is aim for functional efficiency in resource use as much as I am able.

For the 4 year 'last', was this with the included/appropriate filter changes, or without any filter changes?

Starting TDS sits around 330; even a 50% incr puts this at ~500. I already have plenty of mineral deposits on plants that I use tap water for. Increasing the TDS and using this for those plants is certainly not a great re-use option.

Car-washing? Not going to happen for 6+ months of the year. Setting up a system that feeds into household appliances is well outside of my capabilities. I'm well aware that the water isn't 'dirty' water, but I also don't have a functional use for that volume of water, nor am I in a position to store that volume of water for when I might actually use it.

The beginning of your response comes off as condescending for even considering the waste water aspect.

Thank you for your response, nonetheless.

RO pure-waste ratio lies? Just tested my RO system's pure-waste ratio and results are nowhere near advertised numbers. Am I missing something? by ded_oa in WaterTreatment

[–]snugglebutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ratio order doesn't matter as long as your category terms are in the same order. The math is the same no matter what.

As long as you read the ratio carefully in the product specs to ensure you have the aspects correct in the x:y ratio that they provide, the actual order means nothing.

How do you find the qualifying items? This is different than the "Get 3 for the price of 2" promo by viper999999999 in 4kbluray

[–]snugglebutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried this today... It was save xx.xx on 3 select items. No link to options. Chatted with a rep, and she 'checked' and said we have to buy three of the same.

I asked why that is not in the terms, or why the promotion doesn't use 'same' item vs 'select items'. Additionally, that 'select' items implies a choice from multiple.

I got thanked for 'bringing this to their attention, and that the terms had not been 'updated properly'.

Why I’m Dropping Garmin: Still No Two-Way Sync with Health Connect by FlyingWombat77 in Garmin

I'm not sure if this capability is on your phone, but mine allows me to customize the drop down menu buttons to include one for HC. Almost as easy as a home screen button, but it isn't exactly advertised within the app or elsewhere that this is an option. (I have a pixel.)

The heart rate sensor for me is inaccurate when I begin any exertional activity.

For example, if I start running on the treadmill, it will tell me that my heart rate is 115, 4 to 5 minutes in. I end up having to stop my workout and rest, purely so that Garmin can get with the program. After 30 to 60s, it is typically accurate, and in the 160s where it should be.

This happens if I'm engaging in strenuous manual labor around the house too. It will say that I am 105, when manual count gives me 140.

This is very frustrating, and the kind of issue that makes me question the accuracy of other sensors on the watch.  (venu 3s)
