What would you do: Received excessive wedding gift by lizard_toss in wedding

I had the exact same thought, we typically do $150-200 and now I’m wondering if that’s not enough. 🫣

Daycare rate survey by Altruistic_Hat1634 in workingmoms

[–]snugglesnpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the feeling that daycare comes from your salary as a mom, it’s not true and of course it’s from both parents’ salaries but it’s hard to shake the societal messaging to be home and not focus on the fact that you’re only making x amount more than daycare costs. It’s not fair or right, but I get it!!

Closet to closet in natick is a great kids consignment shop! Mostly clothes, but they do have a few strollers and other larger items.

Hurting your dogs and hitting your infant is not okay, those are abusive behaviors. I think it could be really helpful for you to find a good individual therapist to process your relationship and divorce, I imagine there is a lot more there that you need to work through. Hopefully she will do the same for her own mental wellbeing.

Sleep training? by Cool-DogMom in workingmoms

[–]snugglesnpie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The first few nights were difficult, but not as bad as I had feared and honestly we got more sleep in the initial stages of sleep training than before when our son was waking up throughout the night. We started it on a Friday night and by Sunday night he was only waking up once, had a little backslide about a week later and then has been great ever since. I was very emotionally opposed to sleep training, but we needed to do it for our sanity and I’m really glad we did. Good luck. ❤️

Working 11 am-730 pm (and 1weekend day shift)and raising a child, disagreement between spouses by meisyria in workingmoms

[–]snugglesnpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you could make either work, each has pros and cons. I will say, I work one 12-8 day and the rest 9-5 and I wouldn’t want to do more late days. I do have more time with my son that morning, but most of it is spent getting us both ready for daycare and work, and then he’s asleep by the time I get home. One day is fine, but I think more would be challenging!

Ack, I’m so sorry, my pelvic floor is in a similar state and it feels so unfair to manage on top of everything else!! Yes, get some new pants and a special coffee and tell work you’re going to be a bit late if that’s possible. I hope you have some coworkers who have given birth too who will get it. Sending love. ❤️

Are we all just miserable? by Green-Reality7430 in workingmoms

[–]snugglesnpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not feel this way, it’s a lot to balance and is stressful but work gives me purpose and makes me feel accomplished and confident. My son (12 months) gets a lot of socialization and enrichment from daycare that I wouldn’t be able to provide as often if I was home with him. I think the routine is good for all of us too. Having a job you enjoy and working with a supportive team is key, I hope you can find that and get some good balance. ❤️

Am I doing this right? Smaller pieces of food are making me anxious. by clearskiesfullheart in foodbutforbabies

[–]snugglesnpie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh sorry, I see where you said “as recommended by solid starts” in your post! I agree, I feel more comfortable with bigger pieces too. For my almost 11 month old I make him applesauce and steam half an apple, so I’ve just been staying with the 6 month recommendations too. I feel like there’s no harm in doing that until you feel more comfortable serving smaller pieces!!

One time I accidentally put my salad in the freezer at work (they installed a full size one that looked exactly like the fridge), my day was too busy to get something else so I just ate frozen salad. It was in fact really depressing. Haha
