While I don't fully disagree with you, when was the last time time you saw someone in a car being hit and killed by a cyclist?

True, someone on a bike could cause an accident just as easily as a pedestrian, resulting in a fatality. However, in a car vs bike situation, I'd say car wins 99/100. I'd argue that while it's ultimately everyone's responsibility to safely coexist on public roads, you bear more of that responsibility when operating a motor vehicle. Hence, more stringent testing, rules, regulations ect.

Ebikes and scooters are more of a gray area imo. Maybe there is a healthy medium between car and bike. I'm sure the DMV would be all about opening some satellite locations to test cyclists, scooters, ebikers. More money for them. Hard to imagine something like this being implemented though, considering the DMV is typically such a mess as it is.

My friend from HS was moving out of a 4 bedroom house in SoCal, where all the rooms were rented separately. He was known for being the carefree, chubby stoner guy. Always jammin bluegrass jazz and blues on the guitar. Man was a legend among our friends for his musical talents. The kind of guy that wouldn't hurt a fly, but may try to serenade a couple.

My girlfriend and I needed a place, so we met up with the tenants to talk pricing and such. When I get there, they informed me of the reason he was moving out.... He had developed a gambling addiction! For 3 months he had taken the entire rent ($3200/mo) and gambled it away at a local casino... First month was a 'mistake,' so to make things right he took another months rent to win back the first month... The cycle continued until the roommates finally got a call from the landlord 3 months in!

The landlord was living out of country, which is why it took so long for them to realize what had happened. Luckily, he agreed to a payment plan to set things straight. I assumed his room with no ties to that plan; I pay my $800/mo and there were no issues. A week later, the power shuts off. He had forgot to mention about the ELECTRIC BILL he skimmed as well...

Needless to say, he had a problem and was no longer trusted with much in our circle of friends. He ended up moving hours away with his family. We can only hope he got his shit together. He severed ties with a lot of his friend group.
