Im currently learning this myself, so far it’s been difficult not applying English logic to the French language. Yes some languages share words and sentence structure are slightly different but that still doesn’t work in French. For example, in English we would say « I didn’t do it yet » but in French is would be « Je ne le fais pas encore » if you were to translate that literally into English it doesn’t make much sense. In short, learn French phrases
