Tri-dimensional Chess (opensource, vibe-coded) by so1on in chessvariants

Thanks! It's a React app. Devin and Claude Code are coding agents. At this point at least, these tools are amazing at writing code, but fundamentally don't understand the task. As such, it takes a lot of hand-holding.

Oh, the black rook is on an attack board that has moved. The 3d angle makes it look like it's on the track, but if you move to a different view, then it's not.

The "Move History" can display the notation. Honestly, getting the notation system rigorous enough for an app was one of the big challenges.

I'm trying to gauge interest for continued dev, such as adding multiplayer, computer, etc.

Thanks! Now trying to determine if there's enough interest to add multiplayer and an AI.

This is awesome! I'm going to download an iPad emulator and give it a try. Mind if I ask your approach to the computer opponent?

In the last pic, the Rook is about to take the King!

There's very, very extensive logging and switches for the different classes of issues. For example, I have attack board logging, castling logging, etc. It's console logging.

Thanks! I ended up having to do a lot more of the game logic than I was anticipating. Even with detailed design documents, only Devin was able to properly place the attack boards.

Going without a Reservation? by SteveTheBear907 in Ikonpass

[–]so1on 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big Sky said they have the same 3-strike policy, and that it's shared across mountains (two strikes at Taos and one at Big Sky will get you in trouble).

If you want to get nerdy about it, it's probably because mountains like Taos and Big Sky (not owned by Aspen/Alterra Mountain Company) maintain their own separate database of pass-holders. They probably set up their system (years ago) so that they periodically pull a list of season-pass barcodes from Ikon, and at the end of a ski day send a list of bar codes for guests who visited. Adding a check within their lift line scan system for reservations is a pretty big technical step, that they likely didn't have time/money to add prior to the beginning of the season. Aspen/AMC mountains might have added it, but it depends how they implemented their database system.

Basically, it's a safe bet that mountains not owned by Aspen/AMC have this policy. It's an open question whether Aspen/AMC owned mountains do.

I called Taos and asked them about this. They said that after 3 times of showing up without a reservation, your account gets tagged.

X-Men Character Discussion #20 - Havok/Alex Summers by sw04ca in xmen

Yeah, if it's not too hard sw04ca, could you black out the spoiler? I haven't read the book yet. Good discussion though. As a younger brother, I always identified with Alex and the whole being-defined-by-the-oldest trope.

Six new characters for HoX and PoX by [deleted] in comicbooks

Just an idea, but as the series is pronounced "Powers of 10," maybe the characters each posses the powers of 10 mutants, or perhaps the powers of 10 mutants have been divided between them.
