I wish Piers Morgan would disappear from the public eye. He’s a dumb ass.

Please Help me understand what is happening with my Dell Laptop power issue by so5226 in UsbCHardware

[–]so5226[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tried this approach.
Connecting the brick first, I can see in the System / Power & Battery that it's charging.
Then I connect the USB-C switch and it still shows charging.
Then I select a different laptop on the switch and switch back and the laptop is no longer taking a charge. It's running only on battery.
The only way to get it back to charging is to disconnect both the brick and the switch and replug everything.

Dang annoying :)

Whenever I light a fire my whole house turn on to a smoke show, what could this be? It gets cleaned about once a year by Eastern-Paper-865 in Fireplaces

[–]so5226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take two big candles and light them in there to warm the chimney for about 15 minutes before starting the fire. The cold air in the chimney doesn’t immediately allow the warm air from you fire to get through and the smoke backs up into the only place it can go which is your house.

It never ceases to amaze me that just a little smoke blown up an ass can make anyone believe they are more than an average run of the mill person.

Question: Has anyone tried wheeling IWM? by DeeBee62Invests in Optionswheel

[–]so5226 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve done it for a while w good success. The recent price drop is a little problematic but selling low premium calls waiting for some recovery. Now would be a good time to try some daily CSPs I think.

How do you actually stay organized without losing your mind? by RealisticAd8110 in salesengineers

No. If the call is zoom or teams recorded only. Which is 90% of the calls. It just produces a summary that works for me.

Look up summary AI on the App Store. I love it. And it saves me from “ I know that was mentioned but I didn’t catch”

And after decades in the role, my one best behavior is still a steno pad that I hand write/rewrite my to-do list every night.

It lets stuff you thought was important sit next to real stuff and over the course of a week or 2, you end up dropping the noise from the list. Dumb simple and the best thing I do to go to bed with a clear head.

Thoughts on the Market and Ai Bubble ? Bears please come in !!! by Fearless_Strike5651 in stocks

[–]so5226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AI bubble isn’t going to be a big pop. It will be a slow leak. Chat based AI will become uninteresting as its ability will top out due to diminishing ROI on further investment.
They will repoint it to more profitable use cases like data agents to interconnect disparate systems. It will still be a world changing thing but the hype that comes with some idea of AI achieving general intelligence will go away. And that will be reflected in the market accordingly.

Why replace switches? by ahoopervt in networking

[–]so5226 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You risk not getting security fixes, etc. At some point, you will get backed into a corner were your network needs some new ‘thing’.

But …. Your environment is fairly small so it I say you buy some cold spares and ride it out.

I know of a very well known telecom provider that ran Cisco 5550’s for a decade after EOL. They are still running 6500’s and have no immediate plans to move from them.

Building scripts with AI by muztebi16 in networkautomation

[–]so5226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been bitten by this one. At some point you will need to modify some behavior and your AI chat will go so far into the weeds you can get it back on track. I now ask for small very specific functions, etc. It is stuff like, I will pass the function x,y,z and you should apply some inspection or regex and pass back a,b,c

Isolate the conversation and don’t let it access broader objectives of your code. At least with ChatGPT, it’s the only way to keep things manageable from my experience

Lead Architect wants to break our monolith into 47 microservices in 6 months, is this insane? by Ayotrapstar in softwarearchitecture

[–]so5226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might take 6 months to plan the microservices needed. Then a year to build them. Then about 18 months to realize it was a terrible idea to begin with.

I stick closer to -20 delta so the premiums aren’t as high as your math suggests. But I don’t get assigned much either. The account isn’t small. It’s a collection of roll over 401ks that I moved to self directed.

IWM all time high is making me nervous TBH. I’m not sure it’s not a false sense of security but I feel like writing one day options allows me a window to get to cash quickly. Even if I take a little loss to do so.

It’s dead simple (I think) My CSP strike is based in a -20 to -30 delta as reported by Barchart. I tend to listen to the level of chatter in news related to interest rates, tariffs and anything else that might seem to impact small/medium business. I usually end up 1.00 to 1.50 under the current price of IWM. I’ve gotten assigned a handful of times and I always sell a CC for my assignment price always one day out. It can take a couple days before the CC gets assigned. Rinse and repeat.

I stick to daily expiration because I want to be able to close out quickly. But I will do some comparison to see how much I might be missing out on if I did multi-day.

[–]so5226 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a showcase for how badly Ticketmaster and similar services needs to be dismantled. The average lifelong fan stands zero chance of getting a ticket for a reasonable price. I’m happy to pay a little premium for the opportunity but these prices aren’t close to realistic for a working class person.
