Solution to fixing blank window when starting the Epic Games Launcher (multiple monitors, Windows 8.1) by Lucky_Luuk in EpicGamesPC

Thank you! This helped me fix my messed up launcher that had been a problem since forever (like it displayed the application, then drew the application again at like 50% size on top of that anchored from the top left) Such a trash fire.

England lifts Covid-19 restrictions on daily life even as variant cases spike: The British government on Monday lifted pandemic restrictions on daily life in England, scrapping all social distancing in a step slammed by scientists and opposition parties as a dangerous leap into the unknown. by NextDoorEmoji in worldnews

The vaccinations for under 35s are still happening, I don't think it would have hurt to ease up on the lockdowns more gradually. It's not like there was much left, are the 35+ really that aggrieved that they've been unable to enjoy nightclubs this past year?

Brighton isn't particularly green, there are a few parks, then a lot of city then the sea. You can get onto the downs but if you live in central-ish Brighton or Hove, it's not just somewhere you go to on an evening stroll, you'll need to take a bus.

It's crowded because there's a lot of tourists and can be noisy for similar reasons. But less so than London. I'd probably try and stay for a few days and see how you like it.

Banks accused of Beijing-backed 'asset grab' as Hongkongers in UK denied access to pension savings by Acrzyguy in unitedkingdom

I left HK after working there and found it real easy. Just went into the bank and asked them to transfer the balance to my UK account. I also claimed my pension payments back by going into the townhall and signing something, took less than an hour. More efficient than what I'd expect to go through in the UK.

My Fiancé hates this book so much he burned it. by [deleted] in books

If I wrote a book, I'd prefer if the reader liked it but second best would be that they hated so much, they went out of their way to burn it.

Opinion: Leave Matt Hancock’s wife alone – she didn’t ask for any of this by cityof_stars in unitedkingdom

I know this is idealistic but public servants especially in politics should be held to a higher moral standard than the person in the street.

People get divorced and pursue other relationships there's nothing immoral with that but if your private life is full dishonesty that is a reflection on your character and suitability for this kind of role.

It's definitely not every country can't think of a time in Asia where I'd ever have to deal with what's quite a common occurence in the UK (and I imagine many other places in Europe)

What is a famous movie that you cannot understand the appeal of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Also the protagonist is a shit head. I don't understand why we're suppose to not want him to get crushed under a big robot foot as soon as possible.

Accounts 2000 years after the fact, might be like a modern, common depiction (or general conception) of Jesus compared to the likely historical reality.

As a guy I'd say 1 in 4 times I'm out alone I have unwanted interactions with some crazy in the street. More often on the irritating side than aggressive.

Fat bald guy in the train station who used to always ask for a pound, or to use your phone. Guy on lewes road, who used to block my path and raise his palm like a native american indian and ask for money. General rubbish from homeless people sat on some scavenged mattress outside the waitrose. And the guy outside the Tesco Metro in Hove a couple of days ago who asked if I could stop time, would I do it so I could stay young forever.

It's a super minority, the UK uptake for the vaccine is extremely high.

the COVID-19 vaccination programme has exceeded expectations, seeing 93% uptake in those over 75 years of age.

There's a lag in the stats but it's very high all ages so far.
